Based in Cape Town, we are expanding our design team and looking for a highly accomplished Senior Design Manager to head up our architecture and engineering division.Role: Head of Design Senior Design ManagerAbout the Role: As the Head of Design, you will play a critical role in steering the design direction of our company. You will apply your design expertise, management skills, and visionary approach to lead our design team, optimize workflows, and drive our strategic initiatives. Your role will be central to delivering high-calibre design projects while advancing our design team's capabilities.Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Oversee all aspects of the design function, managing a multidisciplinary team of 12+ designers. Lead recruitment, training, and day-to-day management to build and inspire a world-class design team.
• Project Management: Coordinate and oversee all design activities, from conceptualization to technical design and quality control. Produce detailed reports and present them to clients in a clear and professional manner.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO, Head of Projects, and other departments to ensure seamless project delivery. Collaborate with sales, business development, and R&D teams to assess project feasibility and deliver innovative design solutions.
• Optimization: Develop and implement standards, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness in architectural design and engineering work.
• Innovation: Stay updated on sustainable design trends, lightweight construction, and emerging technologies to keep our projects at the cutting edge.

• Advanced Degree: A Masters degree in Architecture is essential.
• Design Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality design projects that integrate architectural and engineering solutions. Experience in luxury hospitality projects or international projects is preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong background in technical design software (Revit, AutoCAD).
• Client Management: Proven ability to manage client relationships and translate client needs into innovative design solutions.
• Leadership: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a dynamic team.
