IntroductionWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Digital Procurement to join our team at MMH. In this pivotal role, you will lead the transformation of our procurement operations by developing and implementing advanced digital procurement frameworks and strategies. You will oversee the entire procurement process, ensuring compliance with B-BBEE standards, optimizing efficiency through technology, and managing supplier relationships. Your expertise in procurement, digital transformation, and compliance will drive innovation and deliver measurable results. Role PurposeDevelop and drive the implementation of operational procurement frameworks, polices and processes to support MMH strategic procurement objectives. The role requires the following:

  • Knowledge of procurement and application of B-BBEE standards and regulatory requirements (Preferential Procurement)
  • Provide process expertise, training and coaching to stakeholders
  • Drive the required analytics to implement and monitor digital procurement strategies
  • Active participation in the project management, development and group-wide digital procurement transformation
  • Source suppliers and develop and manage third party supplier agreements
  • Active management of procurement risk and compliance to the Groups policies and procedures
  • Assist with supplier sourcing and deliver category management implementation
  • Collaborate with and assist stakeholders impacted by procurement strategy
  • Develop and implement Online Shop strategy as part of Transactional Procurement management
  • Contribute to pursuit of innovation within Procurement
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Business degree (e.g. B Comm)
  • Post-graduate degree advantageous
  • Specialist Procurement qualification advantageous, e.g. Certificate in Advanced Programme in Supply Chain Management or CIPS qualification.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
  • 8+ years experience in a supply chain/procurement environment with exposure to digital procurement and workable knowledge of Preferential Procurement
  • Financial services/insurance experience
  • Digital Procurement Transformation (essential)
  • E-commerce experience (desirable)
  • Understanding of the Financial Sector Charter Code, their sub-sets and its continuous amendments
Strong understanding of procurement frameworks, methodologies, processes and industry best practices * Experience in negotiation
  • Relevant financial and regulatory knowledge,
  • Sound knowledge of supplier and spend analytical techniques
  • Understanding of legal frameworks impacting procurement and their potential impacts
Duties & ResponsibilitiesINTERNAL PROCESSOversee the delivery of procurement solutions that enable the achievement of business goals and objectives
  • Stay updated on procurement trends, legislation, and best practices for optimal service delivery.
  • Define and maintain MMH's strategic sourcing approach, policy, and process collaboratively.
  • Support compliance in purchasing decisions and supplier onboarding, enhancing process automation.
  • Implement an Online Shop strategy to enhance user experience and offerings.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and technologies for improvement.
  • Analyze data for data-driven strategies, especially for the Online Shop's performance.
  • Support the improvement of supplier management frameworks, standards, and digital processes.
  • Manage cross-functional committees as needed.
  • Participate in optimizing and maintaining the digital procurement system.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process and system enhancement.
  • Provide strategic sourcing and supplier management guidance to stakeholders.
  • Analyze and refine the supplier list and manage the supplier database.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure adherence to procurement policies, highlighting compliance risks.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a Transactional Procurement catalogue.
  • Manage procurement reports and insights delivery.
  • Oversee RFx processes for Group-wide Services, ensuring successful procurement processes.
  • Support procurement transformation for cost reduction and process efficiency.
  • Lead large engagements from assessment to implementation, with a focus on digital transformation.
  • Manage project risk and economics, including planning and budgeting.
  • Advise COO on procurement best practices, insights, and trends.
  • Develop and nurture trusted relationships with stakeholders and clients.
  • Contribute to innovative approaches and methodologies in procurement.
MMH Group meets B-BBEE requirements
  • Develop, maintain, and implement the strategic plan for Preferential Procurement, ensuring continuous communication with internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report continuously to aid MMH in maintaining its Level 1 status.
  • Develop, implement, and review preferential procurement procedures, aligning them with group strategies.
  • Participate in RFP processes to ensure compliance with B-BBEE requirements.
  • Analyze group procurement spend to identify strengths and gaps in alignment with FSC requirements.
  • Educate the business on B-BBEE principles and their impact on group scores.
  • Collaborate with each business unit to establish B-BBEE compliance targets.
  • Analyze preferential procurement data and calculate the preferential procurement scorecard.
  • Report to the Social Ethics and Transformation Committee (SETC) on group compliance and progress against FSC targets.
  • Assist the business in transforming its vendor profile to align with group transformation targets.
  • Inspire a shared vision across the business for improved compliance through strategic direction in preferential procurement.
Enterprise and supplier development
  • Identify commodity spend for inclusion in the ESD strategy.
  • Identify potential B-BBEE suppliers for development as part of the ESD strategy.
  • Develop a strategic program for enterprise and supplier development, aligning it with the business strategy.
  • Facilitate targeted interventions with end-users, suppliers, and stakeholders to meet group preferential procurement targets.
  • Encourage business participation and commitment to the development programs.
  • Integrate graduating suppliers into the group's supply chain where feasible.
  • Conduct annual reviews of the Preferred Vendor List to ensure compliance with updated FSC requirements.
  • Report to the Masihkulise Trust and provide advisory support to the Trustee Advisory Committee.
Vendor data management
  • Approve all vendors onto the supplier database.
  • Maintain and update supplier data to ensure it is valid, accurate, timely, complete and aligned to regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and communicate standard operating procedures for the onboarding of local and regional vendors and manage compliance.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of the Digital Procurement system post development to ensure effectivity of data management.
  • Deliver and report on Procurement dashboard to monitor continuous process and vendor cost improvement.
