Head of Efficiency Projects


Job Purpose





The Head of Efficiency Projects will lead the strategic planning, development, and implementation of initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and sustainability across the property portfolio. This role will focus on energy optimization, cost reduction, resource utilization, and implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance performance and tenant satisfaction.

Duties and responsibilities




Strategic Planning and Execution:




o Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for efficiency projects in alignment with company objectives.

o Identify key areas for operational improvement and sustainability enhancements.

o Compile budgets for projects and certifications.


Project Leadership:




o Oversee the full lifecycle of efficiency projects, from concept development and feasibility studies to execution and post-implementation review.

o Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.


Energy and Sustainability Initiatives:


o Lead energy efficiency programs, including renewable energy integration, energy audits, and utility cost optimization.

o Promote sustainability practices to meet ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) targets and regulatory compliance.


Stakeholder Collaboration:




o Work closely with internal teams, tenants, service providers, and regulatory bodies to drive project success.

o Engage with leadership to align projects with broader organizational goals.


Technology and Innovation:




o In conjunction with the National Facilities Managers, Identify and implement innovative technologies to optimize building operations and tenant experiences.

o Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements to position the company as a leader in efficiency and sustainability.

o Liaise with Treasury team to ensure compliance with Green Finance KPIs.


Data and Reporting:




o Establish metrics and KPIs to measure project performance and operational efficiency improvements.

o Prepare and present detailed reports to senior leadership and stakeholders, demonstrating ROI and project outcomes.




Qualifications and Experience:




Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Property Management, or a related field (a postgraduate degree is advantageous). Minimum of 5 - 6 years of experience in project management, energy efficiency, or sustainability, preferably in the Built Environment. Proven track record of successfully leading complex efficiency projects within budget and deadlines. Strong understanding of ESG principles, energy management systems, and sustainable building practices. Knowledge on Green Building certifications is advantageous. Knowledge of property operations and the regulatory landscape in South Africa.
