Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Engineering to lead our engineering function an contribute to the overall technology vision of Health by Design. Our ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in software development, deep expertise in system architecture, and demonstrated success in building and scaling high-performing engineering teams. This part-time, virtual role requires hands-on technical leadership, experience with third-party platform integrations, and a data-driven mindset, including proficiency in technologies like Snowflake.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Team Culture and GrowthPeople Development: Cultivate a high performing engineering team through mentoring, coaching, and continuous feedback Support the professional growth of team members and identify opportunities for skills development.

Hiring & RetentionCollaborate with Taken and Human Resources Team to attract top technical talent. Build a diverse, inclusive, and mission aligned team while minimizing attrition and maintaining a strong pipeline of future leaders.

Culture BuildingChampion a collaborative, open, and psychologically safe working environment. Promote transparency, trust, and empowerment within engineering and cross-functional teams.

Team Rituals & Practices:Establish engineering rituals such as tech talks, peer programming sessions, retrospectives, and hack days to strengthen team cohesion and knowledge sharing.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or applicable technology certifications. 10+ years of experience in software development and engineering roles 5+ years of experience in a leadership position, preferably as a Technical Lead or similar
