Head of Legal - StellenboschFull job descriptionHerotel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual as the Head of Legal. This role is based in Stellenbosch, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.Purpose of the Role:As the Head of Legal you will be responsible for regulatory compliance at Herotel. The role will initially focus on leading the legal and regulatory compliance team with a focus on the wayleave application process, with a view to implementing and leading a full legal and compliance function.This is not a researcher/advisor role, it is a hands on role with the ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulation and solve complex legal and compliance challenges.Key Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Lead the legal and regulatory compliance functions and processes.Oversee and manage legal disputes, negotiations and litigation relating to legal and regulatory matters.Manage relationships with regulators, industry bodies and external suppliers.Implement and maintain regulatory compliance risk management framework.Key Outputs:Lead and coach a team of legal and regulatory compliance professionals in all areas, including the following key functions:Review, draft and negotiate Contracts and related legal documents.Oversee and lead disputes and litigation, in conjunction with internal and external legal team.Provide general legal advice to various internal departments.ICASA regulatory compliance and reporting including licensing management.Manage compliance, including the compliance framework and programme, and regulatory reporting.Interpret legislation and advise on compliance risks and compliance controls.
