Job Description


The Head of Service Design and Development is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) and ensuring the alignment of IT design and development practices with business objectives. This role involves managing business analysis, solution architecture, system design, and the development and integration of IT services, ensuring they meet quality standards and business requirements. The successful candidate will lead initiatives to innovate and optimise IT service design and delivery, enhancing user experience and organisational effectiveness.
Qualifications

  • Formal Bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in IT service design and development, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role overseeing large-scale projects.
  • Proven track record in innovative solution development, platform management, and successful implementation of IT services.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and projects in a dynamic and complex environment
Duties
  • Business Analysis: Oversee the design and documentation of business processes, business rules analysis, and the development of functional specifications to ensure IT services align with business needs.
  • Solution and Integration Design: Lead the design of solutions including APIs, middleware, and back-end systems to support seamless integration and robust architecture.
  • Development Oversight: Manage front-end and back-end development teams, ensuring effective collaboration and high-quality software development.
  • Service Integration and Automation: Implement orchestration and automation strategies to improve service integration and operational efficiency.
  • Platform and Cloud Engineering: Direct the engineering of platforms and cloud solutions, ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient infrastructure.
  • Release and Deployment Management: Coordinate release scheduling, change control, and deployment strategies to ensure smooth rollouts of IT services.
  • Innovation and MVP Development: Drive innovation initiatives, manage hackathons, and oversee the rapid development of minimum viable products (MVPs) to keep pace with technological advancements.
  • User Experience Design: Craft and refine user experiences for IT services, focusing on usability and customer satisfaction.
  • Training and Change Management: Facilitate end-user training and manage organizational change related to new IT service implementations.
Job Competencies
  • Software Development Practices: Deep understanding of the SDLC, including Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Technological Proficiency: Knowledge of current technologies in software development, platform management, and cloud computing.
  • Integration Techniques: Expertise in API design, middleware, and integration architecture to support scalable and secure IT systems.
  • Business Process Design: Extensive experience in business process modeling and functional specification development.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Understanding: Familiarity with information security and data protection policies, ensuring compliance in solution designs.
