Head of Supply Chain - DurbanReference: PTA001080-EV-2An established manufacturer of specialised chemicals is seeking an experienced Head of Supply Chain to provide strategic direction in logistics operations, clearing and forwarding within national and 3PL warehouses, ensuring all Supply Chain operations and processes are compliant to SHEQ, dangerous goods and chemicals regulations for Southern African regions.Duties & ResponsibilitiesMinimum requirements for the role:Must have a Bachelor degree or equivalent in Accounting, Engineering, or Supply Chain and Logistics. An MBA will be an added advantageMinimum 10 years Supply Chain Management experience, of which at least 5 years in a senior leadership position will be requiredKnowledge of APICS or CIPS and Lean Six Sigma Methodologies will be advantageousAdvanced Supply Chain Planning capability, including use the of ERP tools and production scheduling are essentialMust have purchasing and supplier account management, including project management, experienceA good understanding of manufacturing operations & tolling is requiredThe ability to understand and translate financial information, including supporting development of business case proposals where appropriate are importantProcurement, Logistics, Warehousing and 3PL Operations experience is mandatory, coupled with an understanding of corporate governance, compliance, procurement policies and contracts The successful candidate will be responsible for: Validating Supply Chain expense budgets.Managing and budgeting inventory and material spend.Accountable for inventory variances, controls and validation of losses or gains.Drafting of Capex budgets for facilities under control for HSE and improvements (e.g WMS systems, racking etc.)Ensuring S&OP processes function in the region and sub-region at all levels and that each forum contributing to the executive S&OP is resourced and process mapped.Coordinating Supply Chain response and overall engagements in the monthly S&OP process including chairing the Executive Sub-regional S&OP.Validating volumes to produce, materials to procure and execution of plans.Adjusting inventory policies to align with product category based on regular portfolio review.Driving and leading inventory audits.Aligning 3PL service providers to the companys delivery and distribution model.Managing communication with internal customers with risks and opportunities identified in the planning and planning evaluation process.Leading monthly S&OP cycle, including validation of proposed scenarios to mitigate the gap between demand and supply.Gaining the needed approvals to commit company resources based on DOA.Managing supply planning inputs when new products are introduced.Managing material planning and replenishment to plants and contract manufacturers.Monitoring the internal and external supplier performance, delivery on time, quality and accuracy and liaise with procurement for improvement activities as needed.Understanding and managing impact of costs and pricing changes on COGS and driving improvement and cost saving initiatives by routing changes in collaboration with other departments.Driving Global Shared Service activities as required ensuring quality service at optimal costs.Ensuring knowledge on Environmental Impact Assessment to manufacturing, storage & tolling locations.Updating Dangerous Goods Advisory Policies, trainings, certifications, Audits (IATA, IMDG) etc.Ensuring compliance of manufacturing, storage and logistics to regulatory & GHS (Global Harmonized Systems) compliance.Ensuring advanced knowledge of (SEZ) special economic zones and applicable regulations related to MHI (major hazardous installation).Accountable for customs clearance, importation and transportation of goods globally from origin to intended place of use.Reviewing and improving all warehousing and logistics operations and creating projects to add capacity, improve service and reduce costs (e.g WMS systems, digitization, road transport tenders and simplification of supply chains).
