Key Performance Areas:

• Provides strategic management and leadership of all science infrastructure project requirements for the effective management of operations within Scientific Services
• Provides technical advice and support for the implementation of scientific research, information management, process technology and quality management
• Manage external service providers to ensure compliance with Council's and Scientific Services Branch's standards and specifications for the provision of equipment within budgets and time frames
• Estimates, formulates and prioritise the capital budget of Scientific Services by liaison and agreement with Analytical Services, Quality Management, Process Technology and Research and Development
• Implements Laboratory Information Management Services and Infrastructure that support all functional areas within Scientific Services
• Manage and maintain scientific equipment of Analytical Services, Quality Management and Research and Development to ensure optimal performance.
• Manage assets to ensure the desired level of services in the most cost effective manner to all clients
• Manage chemical and consumable inventories and stores in order to ensure continuous operations of Analytical Services, Research and Development, Process Technology and Quality Management
• Manage the supervision and administration of staff

• BTech or first Degree in Natural Sciences or similar field.
• Registered with or eligible to register with SACNASP as a professional Natural Scientist
• 8 years relevant experience
• Extensive experience and the understanding of Supply Chain Management practises as it relates to Science Infrastructure requirements
• A valid code B drivers licence
