Head Sommelier and Strategic Procurement Leader - Cape TownFull job descriptionJob Opportunity: Head Sommelier and Strategic Procurement Leader at our Expanding RestaurantAre you passionate about culinary excellence and driven by the desire to grow alongside a thriving restaurant? We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as the Head Sommelier and Strategic Procurement Leader.Key Responsibilities:xc2xb7 Structuring and Curating Wine Menusxc2xb7 Build upon our award winning wine concept, exploring small producers and limited releases.xc2xb7 Acquiring vintage wines and rare gems.xc2xb7 Research up and coming wine producers.Establish and run a Team of Junior Sommeliers across the venues:Create a team of sales oriented wine specialist that suits each venues needs.Supplier Relationship Management:Build and nurture strong relations with suppliers across Kitchen, Wine, Office, and Bar departments, ensuring seamless procurement processes.Strategic Collaboration:Work closely with Department Heads to optimize spending while upholding our commitment to quality and concept integrity.Stock Management:Spearhead stock deals, allocations, and bulk ordering strategies to maintain efficient inventory levels.Financial Analysis:Monitor and analyse margins for each restaurant department, providing insightful reports to the CEO to drive informed decision-making.Sales Focus:Establish a sales-focused Front of House department, partnering with the General Manager to drive revenue growth through targeted initiatives.Team Development:Assist in staff training initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.Management Support:Contribute to the overall management team, offering strategic insights and support across various business functions.Supplier Network Expansion:Develop a robust contact base of maintenance and repair contractors, overseeing budgeting and facilitating seamless maintenance operations.Supplier Engagement:Arrange tastings and meetings with suppliers and department heads, ensuring alignment with our vision and standards.Purchasing Oversight:Supervise all departmental purchasing activities, implementing controls to prevent overspending and optimize resource allocation.Incentive Programs: Design and implement a commission structure for wine sales to incentivize and motivate top-performing Front of House staff.Qualifications:- Proven experience in procurement or purchasing management within the hospitality industry.- Strong negotiation and communication skills.- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.- Leadership qualities with a focus on team empowerment and collaboration.- Innovative thinking with a passion for driving growth and excellence.Join Us!If you're ready to take on a pivotal role in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, we invite you to apply for the Head Sommelier and Strategic Procurement Leader position.
