Health & Safety Officer SACPCMP registered required for leading building contractor (Must be based in the Cape Town area)A well-established Construction Company in the Built environment is seeking to appoint a Health & Safety Officer.The successful applicant will fulfil all the necessary requirements with regards to the Companys Environmental, Health and Safety at designated Projects that are being undertaken by the Company.Key Responsibilities:
- The enforcement of Health and Safety Policies.
- Conducting of Audits and Inspections.
- Investigation of Accidents / Incidents.
- Ensuring HSE compliance in line with the requirements of the OSHACT.
- HSE Training of On-Site Staff / HSE Induction Training.
- Conducting Toolbox Talks to address specific hazards and risks in relation to the assigned Construction Project.
- Review and Approval of Sub-Contractor HSE Files.
- Submission of Weekly and Monthly Reports / Statistics to Project Management and Head Office.
- Preparation of Risk Assessment and Method Statements for the Company as and when required.Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer.
- In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHACT) and procedures.
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
- Experience in writing reports and policies for Health and Safety.
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
- Working knowledge of Safety Management Information Systems.
- Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- SACPCMP Registration preferred.
- At least 3 to 5 years relevant experience in a similar Built environment.
- Valid Drivers License and own transport.Preferred Competencies:
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft 365.
- Excellent planning, organising, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Diligent with great attention to detail.
