  • Grade 12
  • Technical Diploma/ Certificate/ Trade Tested, or equivalent technical qualification
  • 5 years experience with a technical background in a similar environment
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in occupational health, safety and environment(in a corporate environment)
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP system. In depth knowledge of the Pre-requisite Programmes ISOPE01 & ISOP02. In depth knowledge of HACCP Plan for glass and Bib Filing ISOPH02 Qualifications
  • Mechanical maintenance and Project management skills, Analytical and creative problem-solving skills, Product and production process knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of Computer Skills: Microsoft Office suite
  • Extensive knowledge on health and safety within a FMCG environment
DUTIES:M & E, and Vehicle Compliance
  • Inspects that the maintenance is carried out on all machines, equipment, and vehicles according to planned maintenance schedules and required health and safety standards
  • Monitors the running machines, vehicles, forklifts, and equipment and makes proposals for improvements/ replacements when necessary to ensure that all machinery is safe to operate
  • Ensures proper care and use of machines, tools and equipment and request replacements when required
  • Ensures all break downs and preventative maintenance records are completed according to OHS procedures
  • Sources and negotiates prices for spares and new equipment when required
  • Facilitates specialist maintenance repairs and co-ordinates with engineering companies if necessary
  • Work with appointed 16.1 and 16.2s in all areas
  • Facilitates commissioning new machinery ensuring deadlines are achieved
Buildings/Grounds Compliance
  • Ensures buildings and grounds are inspected on a regular basis and preventative measures are taken against deterioration when necessary
  • Inspects repair work is carried out according to the health and safety standards by liaising with contractors when required
  • Attends to emergency call outs and liaises with departmental managers when repairs or renovations are required
Document Control
  • To engage in the planning, management and monitoring of all documents related to Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental management
  • Regular checks of documents and procedures to ensure that standards are maintained or improved
  • To support and coach the staff with the latest health and safety legislation and regulations, and increase H&S awareness at all levels within the Company
  • Report incidents to Department of Labour on the correct WCL documents required
  • Assist with training needs determination based on HSE System and OHS Act requirements and monitor that training is up to date
  • Review safety obligations of the clients, contractors and ensure they are carried out as per the terms of agreement (37.2 agreements and contractor files)
  • Review and document non- conformances
  • Give monthly report incidents, near misses, injuries, and corrective actions taken to avoid the same incident to occur in future
  • Generate monthly dashboards and feedback on HSE compliance and deviations
  • Review the process documents and update and upgrade in coordination with the Management Executive
  • To assist in documenting incident investigations and report all personnel injuries and critical incidents occurring to staff, contractors, visitors, identity route course and corrective actions where necessary
Security
  • Acts as the security contact point on site
  • Facilitates the initiation of new building plans or plant modifications from a health and safety point of view, and submits budgets for capital expenditure approval
  • Oversees new projects by monitoring standards and progress and working within budget constraints
  • Sources contractors according to project requirements, for example, civil engineers, architects, electrical engineers, electricians, fitters etc.
  • Facilitates and expedites project progress by monitoring and liaising with external contractors
  • Co-ordinates the activities of the contractors, ensuring compliance to safety policies and procedures
  • Negotiates prices with contractors in accordance with budget constraints
  • Monitors the security surveillance system and takes corrective action when required to ensure company property and the people are always protected
  • Liaises with the security company on any matters pertaining to their security guards to ensure proper control of the security system at the entrance gate and the perimeter patrolling
Contractor Controls/Risk Management
  • Supervisors the work of employees and contractors by maintaining discipline and ensuring adherence to company policy regarding health and safety
  • With HODs, ensures that all contractor controls re relevant and up to dat
  • Assist where required to ensure that all departments health and safety risks have been assessed
Quality Management Systems
  • Adheres to QMS standards and procedures and follows QMS protocol as described by QMS procedures
  • Ensures that the security of the premises is intact for responsible areas
  • Adheres to the set GMP protocol and participates in various quality seminars
  • Attend HSE internal compliance audits
  • As part of a team, perform self-audits and ensure compliance with the documented processes
  • Manage and assist external audits by customers or authorities as require
  • Align policies with international standards ISO14000 and ISO45001 where applicable to the organization
Health, Safety and Housekeeping
  • Ensures health and safety policies, procedures, and protective clothing policies are in line with the OHS Acts statutory requirements and are adhered to.
  • Review, develop and manage all company health and safety policies and objectives and be familiar with the applicable laws and regulations
  • To act as a liaison with all government related bodies and regulating agencies alongside management
  • Receive HSE Representative inspection reports and document action lists based on risk of deviations identified
  • Able to attend to after-hours queries or matters
  • Any other reasonable requirements and instructions which might be requested or given by senior management
  • Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 17:00
