HEALTH & FITNESS FACILITY PROGRAM MANAGER

TWELVE (12) MONTHS FIXED -TERM CONTRACT

MASIPHUMELELE; HEALTH PARK

The main purpose of this role is to combine a passion for health and fitness with financial/fundraising acumen to grow a sustainable health and fitness centre that has been built at our research site in Masiphumelele, with the goal of assisting as many youngsters as possible in reaping the advantages of a healthy lifestyle.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 Certificate with a Tertiary Degree in either Business/entrepreneurship or Health and Fitness - related field or equivalent prior experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in managing a small to medium business
  • A track record of developing a sustainable business model, preferably in the health and fitness related industry
  • Computer literacy with sound knowledge of email, word processing and internet
  • Staff management experience
  • Excellent project and general management track record
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to work weekends
  • Self starter
Advantageous:
  • MBA, Post Graduate Business Management/Project Management
  • Xhosa speaking
  • Experience in Health and Fitness or related environment
Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee Health Park facilities
  • Ensure that the premises are well maintained and equipment is clean, well maintained and fully functional
  • Ensure team delivers the fitness program as agreed upon and to the meet the needs of members in a safe environment
  • Ensure regular communication with team regarding key project matters
  • Troubleshoot implementation challenges
  • Develop sustainable funding model to secure the future of the facility
  • Manage marketing and social media messaging for the Health Park
Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on project progress
  • Remain abreast of queries and ensure implementation team responds to these timeously.
  • Regular monitoring of project progress and deliverables
  • Regular reporting to Senior Management on progress as well as feedback on project implementation facilitators and barriers
  • Tracking of membership and usage of the facilities using available software
  • Tracking expenditure against budget
Engaging and communicating with key project stakeholders
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders relevant to project delivery (including Provincial and City Health, and other key community stakeholders)
  • Keep stakeholders informed of activities and collaborate where required
  • Host funders and other visitors at site
Human resources management
  • Line manage key project staff members and interns
  • Meet regularly with them to review their progress against deliverables
  • Conduct performance planning and reviews with them
  • Meet regularly with HR to review and address project HR needs and issues
  • Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members' individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels
