Heritage/Tourism Management Consultant - 6 Months



Our client based is looking for

Heritage/Tourism Management Consultant

for 6 months contract for an upcoming project to assist in developing and management of Heritage Strategy for various sites in Eastern Cape. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to enhance cultural and heritage tourism, ensuring the preservation and sustainable development of historical sites.

Key Responsibilities:



Develop a Heritage Strategy that aligns with local, provincial, and national tourism and heritage objectives. Conduct assessments of heritage sites to identify key assets, preservation needs, and tourism potential. Engage with local communities, government bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure inclusive development processes. Provide expert advice on heritage conservation practices and tourism management. Identify funding opportunities and assist in preparing proposals for heritage projects. Design and implement tourism development plans that promote cultural awareness and economic growth. Develop policies and frameworks for the sustainable management of heritage sites. Monitor project implementation and ensure alignment with best practices and regulatory standards. Deliver progress reports and recommendations to project stakeholders.

Requirements:



Bachelor's degree or higher in Heritage Studies, Tourism Management, Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in heritage and/or tourism management, with a focus on strategy development. Proven track record of working on heritage projects, preferably within the Eastern Cape or South Africa. Strong understanding of heritage conservation principles, tourism development, and stakeholder engagement. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills. Ability to collaborate with diverse communities and stakeholders. Familiarity with South African heritage laws and policies is an advantage. Willingness to travel to various sites across the Eastern Cape.
Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: Up to R30000,00 per month
