Job Description


Our client a dynamic sports broadcaster is looking for a HOD: Content Creation to be responsible for content creation and conceptualizing of ancillary content for sport including all features and lifestyle-driven content.In order to be considered the following is required:

  • Qualification: Television Production / Film or relevant (Broadcast, Media, scriptwriting)

Responsibilities:
Content Creation and Delivery:
  • Produce ancillary content for sport: magazine and lifestyle shows featuring horseracing, to include all 'off the course' elements, game shows, backstories and personality features. Studio and location shoots
  • Oversee editors, producers and content distributors: management of core production team, oversee incoming and outgoing content for channel and platform distribution
  • Quality assurance in line with broadcast specifications: quality checking of all incoming and outgoing features content, from external and internal service providers
  • Increased viewership, broader target audience and diverse content
  • Delivery of content timeously to multiple platforms
  • Minimal on-air errors visible to viewers or identified by viewers and positive viewer feedback
Marketing:
  • Manage promotional material for channel content: promos in suitable television and web formats, highlighting racing events, feature shows, betting pools and industry news
  • Channel marketing and cross-promotion (ie dstv and SABC) leveraging off and with marketing teams to adequately position the Racing 240 brand and Racing Today Brand on their respective platforms
  • Internal cross-promotion i.e. Cape Racing, Marketing and events teams - coordinating of shooting of horseracing related events within the industry for channel content and coverage
  • Timeous delivery of channel promo's to create a presence on various media platforms
  • Measurable exposure of the channel, creating increased viewership
  • Working in synergy with the extended family and content and resource sharing
Enhanced Content Creation:
  • Manage graphic design elements for channel use: oversee and manage creation and distribution of graphics elements for use within magazine shows, promos and features
  • Content sharing with Social media partners: manage relationship and editorial distribution of footage to social media producers within the platforms
  • Creating an appealing look and feel and a visual satisfying experience for existing and new audiences
  • Maximizing multiple platforms
Administration:
  • Perform administration obligations and report accurately and promptly
  • Safekeeping of company's assets
  • Ensure all invoices are correct in collaboration with finance
  • Follow procedures with regard to financial deposits to be paid up front, suppliers paid and outstanding funds collected in time.
  • Maintain a network of a potential pool of human resources to employ both permanently and contractually as the business scales
  • Where necessary, provide ongoing training and development of human resources.
  • Effective administration, filing, reporting and control'
  • Effective inventory control
  • All invoices correct prior to sending to clients.
  • All financial controls are followed and in place, debtors' book is within acceptable standards
  • Effective recruitment process that drives cost efficiencies and talent acquisition
  • Evidence of effective training of resources
Stakeholder Management:
  • Provide relevant and specialised support to various stakeholders to ensure achievement of objectives
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism through personal conduct with colleagues, internal and external stakeholder personal performance and proactively ensuring their awareness of, and adherence to, relevant policies, and procedures
  • Manage requirements of various departments to achieve desired output
  • Feedback from various stakeholders
  • Relationship with stakeholders
People Management:
  • Ensure that all HR deadlines are met
  • Training registers, training trackers and CDPs are completed and submitted accurately and in time
Innovation and Sales:
  • Propose and present new innovative ideas for the business
  • Identify opportunities to leverage of networks to expose people to what we are doing
  • Think outside the box to grow business as well as lead the market
  • Innovative proposals made
  • Sales opportunities created and identified
  • Number of new subscriptions due to new ideas
  • Financial gain from new ideas
  • Market survey feedback on ideas
  • Demonstrated creativity regarding business drivers and enhanced competitiveness
