HR degree or diploma
3 to 5 years experience in a unionized environment
Leadership and strong management skills in all HR, Payroll and Training matters and EE administration
Computer skills: MS Office suite, Time and attendance software(ERS bio or similar) and Payroll software experience
Key Performance Areas
Working closely with department managers in a consultancy role, to help them understand and implement policies and procedures, s, KPIs, Disciplinary Action, Appointments, Probation follow ups. These meetings need to happen at least once a month.
Ensure all employees have signed job descriptions and that KPIs are up to date.
Promoting equality and diversity as part of the organizational culture.
Staff recruitment and scheduling of interviews and following up on references given.
Complete all necessary documentation and pre-requisites for new appointments. Ensure they have the correct tools and equipment.
Developing policies on working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management.
Manage the employment equity committee and process within the company according to the employment equity act.
Administrating payroll and maintaining employee records
Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures.
Setting up a training matrix with the department heads and safety office.
Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel related data such as hires, transfers, leave outstanding, performance, absenteeism rates, loans, overtime comparisons.
Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination.
Nurture a positive working environment
Make sure staff files are up to date with all the relevant documents. Update at least once a year.
Manage and submit Injury on Duty documentation and procedures.
Assist in union negotiations and dealings. Attend shop steward meetings.
Keep record of all staff training, studies paid etc and have an updated list available at all times.
Work towards a fully functional time and attendance system.
Ensure Daily Reports received from the Security Surveillance Systems Co-Ordinator and Camera Operator are updated and distributed to the Managers / Supervisors
Manage and coordinate office environment including office purchases, stationery, events & functions, general upkeep of the office.
