Job Description


Main Responsibility:To head a companys HR Department and fulfil its recruitment needs by retaining current employees, assisting with questions regarding employment and company policies.There are five typical HR functions:

  • Talent management
  • Compensation and benefits
  • Training and development
  • Compliance
  • Worker safety
The different areas of HR have a lot of crossovers between different HR duties and other departments.The Human Resources Manager will be accountable for and able to demonstrate the following experience:
  • Organisational Development
  • Manage and drive OD interventions as to positively impact morale, motivation and engagement in collaboration with Group HR standards and procedures
  • Performance Management
  • Manage employee performance effectiveness through actively engaging with management and offering guidance in the facilitation of the performance management process
  • Create and contribute to a supporting culture committed to Organisational Performance
  • Assist and support managers in the monitoring, review and management of the probationary period of staff.
  • Support managers in seeking to investigate causes of poor performance and in developing and implementing actions for improving performance (Performance Improvement Programmes).
  • Educate and provide guidance on the process, system and tools to be utilised
  • Onboarding and Departures
  • Oversee all new engagements and terminations as to check that they are done correctly in terms of paperwork, information, files etc. in line with internal HR standards
  • Employment Equity
  • Ensure all recruitment aligns with the EEA
  • Ensure that the company is compliant with the EEA in terms of structure
  • Industrial Relations
  • Provide Management with guidance on misconduct in line with the LRA
  • Conduct warnings and hearings in a fair manner (CCMA)
  • Provide guidance to Management in the process, system and tools to be utilised in a disciplinary procedure
  • Management of all grievance procedures
  • Payroll
  • Conduct payroll administration
  • Provide support and guidance to Staff and Management on all Payroll related queries
  • HR Metrics
  • Provide monthly HR report to Director on various HR metrics
  • Conduct monthly turnover, onboarding, etc. metrics as to support and guide HR strategy and actions
  • HR Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure adherence, consistent application and updating (in line with Group HR and ISO) of all HR policies and procedures as and when legislation changes are implemented
  • Advise when new policies are required and ensure correct interpretation
