Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a HSE Officer to join our team in Johannesburg. This individual will offer support, as directed, on day-to-day operations and assist in ensuring all work is executed in line with Safety Legislation and ISO 17025. You will be a support function for all staff on HSE-related matters ensuring the Company's H&S policy and legislative requirements are adhered to effectively in all areas of the business. You will provide a high-level report on health monitoring, incident statistics, site-inspection reports, nonconformances and corrective action monitoring, project progress, HSE audits etc. Maintain a professional standard and appearance during office hours when interacting with colleagues on various levels and or while promoting the company when on company business.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES
To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Required Competencies
Highly proficient in English (verbal and written)
Ability to demonstrate literacy and be numerate
Advanced Occupational Health and Safety Act
Demonstrate competency in Legal liability
Incident investigation L3
COIDA knowledge
Experience in hazard identification and risk assessment in an analytical chemistry laboratory, minerals sampling and inspection.
Must be computer literate - Microsoft Office suite
Commitment to safe work practices
Must have experience with Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and ISO45001:2018 safety management systems
Must have own transport and a valid driver's license
Must have sober habits
No criminal record
Previous experience as a Safety officer in an ISO45001:2018 workplace would be advantageous.
Able to manage own time effectively, whilst working to tight deadlines
Effective teamwork, networking skills and ability to work independently using own initiative
The ability to plan, prioritize and organize own workload
Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal
Effective interpersonal skills
Required Qualifications
Matric (with maths).
5 - 10 years of experience in an occupational health and safety role within the commodity Analysis and inspection industry.
Diploma - Health and Safety Management, NEBOSH IGC (advantageous).
