Job Summary Education Level: Diploma in Health & Safety management Courses: SAMTRAC/COMSOC, HIRA, Incident Investigation, ISO14001/45001/TS 16949 and VDA 6.3. Language Requirements: English 5-7 Years of Experience in similar environment. Minimum 5 years experience in similar environment (Heavy Manufactory/Foundry) Risk assessments experience First Aid Environmental and sustainability legislation and by-laws OHSA knowledge and experience Must have sound knowledge of (ISO, VDA and QS systems) Motor Manufacturing Industry Computer literate Must have sound knowledge of safety, Health, Environmental and Sustainability legislation and principles, projects and implementation Health & Safety Ensuring legal appointments are made, processed, monitored and amended correctly, Has the authority and responsibility to stop plant and equipment that affect SHEQ legal and customer standards, Liaise, audit with contractors and regulators and reporting of the same, Maintain safety and environmental permits and reporting of the same, Plans, implements, coordinates and maintains the Health, Safety & Environmental requirements program, Conducting regular inspections of workshop and working areas and them inform management of unsafe practices and unsafe conditions and give advice with regards to preventative measures and implementation methods. Ensure all inspections are supported by written reports, Ensures SHEQ policies and procedures are adhered to, Ensure the process of continuous improvement is maintained, Ensure that SHEQ Management System requirements are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, TS 16949 and VDA 6.3 standards, Ensure that HLSA complies to all RSA HSE legislation, Ensure HLSA complies to group standards , Ensure Managers and supervisors initiate and complete VFL program, Ensuring that all relevant registers are updated and inspections being carried out and corrective actions implemented, Conducting meetings and write minutes for distribution and arrange for central filing, Assist the Plant manager with the establishment of long and short term policies, objectives and risk management strategies for the company within the framework of the Global policy and objectives using own knowledge, training and experience. Environmental Ensures continued adherence to environmental standards, legal compliance and plant expectations and safety objectives, Enforces compliance to standard operating procedures, regulations, contractual agreements and environmental guidelines, and deal with non-conformance when required, Ensures that the Plant is in compliance with environmental regulations and standards related to pollution and waste management, Inspect and test the output of the Plants equipment using a variety of tools and methods, depending on the contaminant required, Developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental management systems to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, Developing and implementing environmental policies and procedures, including waste management plans, energy conservation plans, and pollution prevention programs, Coordinating and collaborating with other departments and external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, to ensure environmental regulations and laws compliance, Investigating and addressing environmental complaints, violations, and incidents, Providing guidance and support for environmental impact assessments, permit applications, and other regulatory requirements, Keeping updated with changes in environmental laws and regulations and ensuring that the organization complies with new regulations, Managing and monitoring major projects environmental impacts and supporting project managers, Participating in emergency response activities, such as spills and other environmental incidents, Sustainability Create an overarching strategy for sustainability in organizations with an accompanying mission or vision and clear operating principles, Build short and long-range operational planning that incorporates sustainability practices, Directly manage all aspects of sustainability initiatives and programs Manage sustainable activities such as recycling, energy efficiency, and water conservation, Conduct an analysis of current policies, costs and benefits associated with implementing sustainable practices in an organization, Develop and implement systems to measure the progress of sustainability initiatives, Engage with a variety of stakeholders to ensure that their input is reflected in the sustainability policy, Assess buildings on the level of current the efficiency and effectives of sustainability programs. Development and Training Developing training/recording SHEQ activities, Ensure all licensed operators are adequately licensed and renewals planned, Ensure that the Safety Reps are trained and committee fully functioning, Informing management of any changes or amendments in regulation or legislation and providing training on the impact of such, Educating and training employees, contractors, and other stakeholders on environmental issues and best practices, Act as an internal sustainability consultant in the organization to educate colleagues on emerging trends, programs, and issues in sustainability Administrative Coordinates Departmental Health and Safety meetings, Reports all deviations from SHEQ to management, Compiles and distributes Safety, Health and Environmental statistics and graphs, Plans and coordinates all surveys e.g. noise zone identification and ergonomics and SHEQ monitoring, Reports on the performance to management for review and as a basis for improvement, Legislative reporting in terms of health & Safety, Environmental and sustainability, Discussing the Plant safety, environmental and sustainability performance with Senior Management on a monthly basis or as when needed, Ensure that all documents with regard to work injuries are reported, capture and reported, Engaging with RMA on the status of claims and attending to outstanding items, Monitoring and reporting on environmental performance, including tracking energy and water usage, waste reduction efforts and other environmental metrics, Communicating regularly with management and other stakeholders, providing environmental performance and compliance updates. Supervisory Shared supervision of cleaning staff and other related employees, Shared supervision of garden service and all contractors on site. Inspections & Audits Regular hygiene inspections, Regular housekeeping inspections, Adhere to company Code of Conduct and Procedures , Conducts supplier and contractor audits, Conducting environmental assessments and audits, including air and water quality monitoring, waste management, and soil contamination assessments, Conduct audits and develop quality management system and assurance based on internal and OEM needs, Ensure internal compliance with regulations, Conducts process system surveillance audits regarding OHSAS 45001, ISO 14001, TS 16494 and VDA 6.3 for preventative action purposes. Risk Assessment and investigation Investigation of all incidents and recommend preventative measures to Management, Report and conclude investigation in terms of Global reporting standards, Conduct continuous risk assessments based on changes in equipment, working procedures or any other change in the factory, In Loco inspections of the factory to establish and measure potential risk per area wand provide possible counter measures,MECS AfricaRecruiter
