Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to re-imagine mining to improve people's lives"", delivering the metals and minerals that make modern life possible."PurposeProvide technical assistance to maintenance personnel proactively on complex mechanical systems, equipment and processes to continuously enhance plant performance and availability.Your duties will include:

  • Read, sign off, and follow all appropriate work instructions and standards.
  • Attend safety meetings as instructed.
  • Keep the allocated area clean and apply good housekeeping practices to ensure a hazard-free environment.
  • Ensure installations, commissioning of infrastructure and post-installation work testing for functionality are executed following specifications within the agreed schedule and budgetary limits.
  • Continuously monitor maintenance progress and related preparation activities against planned schedules to meet operational targets, minimise downtime, enable timely reporting and enhance plant efficiency.
  • Provide proactive assistance or respond to requests from maintenance personnel.
  • Identify components that cause excessive downtime and implement permanent solutions.
  • The Work: Key Outputs and Accountabilities
  • Test equipment/machinery for functionality and safety before returning it to production.
  • Facilitate failure analysis investigations to find the root cause of problems and develop solutions.
  • Train maintenance personnel on system maintenance when a new system is installed.
  • Design, install, and commission new hydraulic systems or modifications.
  • Establish, maintain, and manage healthy relationships with stakeholders to ensure compliance with technical standards.
  • Utilize knowledge and expertise to provide valuable insights into projects and operations for improving overall business performance.
  • Meet country-specific legal requirements and hold relevant certifications to perform tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to deliver efficient technical solutions and ensure adherence to operational technical standards.
  • Translate technical knowledge and information into practical inputs for projects and operations to enhance overall business performance.
  • Maintain relevant certifications and qualifications to meet country-specific legal requirements while applying mechanical engineering principles to deliver effective technical solutions to operations.
  • Contribute to the development of the Department budget.
  • Identify any opportunities for improved cost management, and either address these or raise them with your supervisor, as appropriate.
  • Compare the work completed with the contract requirements and specifications towards the end of the project.
  • Consolidate the budget at the end of the project and inform the Financial Department of any underspending.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • National Diploma Electrical Engineering
  • SA Drivers License
Technical Knowledge
  • Knowledge of operational processes within the scope of the role.
  • Relevant operational drawing/design experience (mining industry preferred).
  • Documentation, sign-off and approval processes.
  • Risk management techniques and critical controls.
  • Leadership tools for implementing a culture of purpose-led, high-performance and change.
