HVAC Engineer - Pretoriaull job descriptionQualifications and Experience:Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university.Postgraduate qualifications or specialized HVAC certification can be advantageous.Registered or eligible for registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng).At least 10-15 years of relevant experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of HVAC systems.Experience with project management and supervising teams on-site.Proficiency in HVAC design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, or similar tools.Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and electrical systems pertinent to HVAC applications.Familiarity with South African building codes, fire safety regulations, and environmental standards.Knowledge of energy efficiency standards and certifications, such as Green Star SA.Certification in Health and Safety practices can be beneficial.Specialized HVAC training or certification (e.g.,AIRETEM, ASHRAE certifications).Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and documentation.A valid South African driverxe2x80x99s license is often required for site visits and inspections.Active participation in professional bodies or associations related to HVAC engineering, such as the South African Institute of Mechanical Engineers (SAIMechE), can be advantageous.Roles and Responsibilities:Design HVAC systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration solutions tailored to meet specific building requirements.Develop and optimize HVAC system prototypes and final products to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.Conduct detailed system analysis to determine the heating and cooling loads required to maintain proper indoor air quality.Use HVAC design software to calculate and simulate system performance.Oversee the installation of HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, health and safety standards, and South African building codes.Coordinate with contractors and on-site construction teams to achieve project goals.Provide regular maintenance schedules and troubleshoot issues related to HVAC system performance.Implement corrective actions for system malfunction, inefficiencies, and breakdowns.Analyze energy consumption patterns and suggest improvements to enhance the energy efficiency of HVAC systems.Incorporate sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in all HVAC designs.Prepare detailed system specifications, drawings, and technical manuals for new installations.Generate comprehensive reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and repair logs.Collaborate with clients to understand their HVAC needs and propose solutions that align with their requirements and budget.Provide expert advice on HVAC options and enhancements.Ensure that all HVAC systems comply with local, national, and international standards and regulations, including OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) guidelines.Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards.Job Type: Full-timePay: R75 000,00 - R100 000,00 per month
