Industrial Engineer -Supply Chain Network Optimization - CenturionFull job descriptionLocation: Pretoria area - GautengPosition/Title: Industrial Engineer- Supply Chain Network Optimization PlannerReports To: Planning ManagerEmployment Type: Permanent Overall Responsibility:As a Supply chain & network optimization planner, you will play a critical role in designing and enhancing the efficiency of the supply chain processes and logistics networks. This includes the analyses of existing planning functions and logistics networks, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to optimize supply chain and transportation costs.You will achieve these objectives through the use of advanced modelling techniques and data analysis, while working closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement these optimization strategies and plans that enhance efficiency, reduce costs and improve overall performance.This role will involve designing, building, and maintaining management decision models, as well as interpreting data to provide insights and recommendations for process improvement. Focus Area 1Model DevelopmentDesign, develop, and implement models and simulations to represent various aspects of supply chain and logistics operations, including transportation, inventory management, etc. Focus Area 2Data AnalysisAnalyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimizationUtilize statistical techniques and data visualization tools to communicate findings effectively Focus Area 3Optimization and Continuous Improvement:Apply optimization algorithms and techniques to improve logistics processes, such as route optimization, load planning, inventory allocation, and schedulingIdentify opportunities for process improvement and innovation within supply chain operations. Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement initiativesFocus Area 4CollaborationCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, operations, procurement, and IT, to understand business requirements and develop solutions that align with organizational goals Focus Area 5:Performance MonitoringMonitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics operations and identify areas for improvement.Develop and implement metrics to track the success of implemented strategies Requirements of the roleQualifications: Industrial EngineerExperience in the FMCG Industry /Supply Chain Industry, with strong modelling analytics skillsFamiliarity with database managementExperience with data visualization tools such as Power BI.Model development etc. Preferred Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in logistics modelling and analysisExperience with simulation software and optimization toolsKnowledge of logistics and supply chain principles, including, inventory management, manufacturing etcExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teamsDetail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in workAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
