ControlInvestigate, analyse and interpret clinical data and act upon findingsEnsure adherence to statutory bodiesIdentify training needs in the hospital and provide input in the development of training materialInfluence and equip hospital teams to understand and comply to IPC
policies and principlesProvide support with patient safety and quality improvement initiatives in
the absence of the Patient Safety ManagerContinuous professional developmentREQUIRED EDUCATIONESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Nursing qualification (degree or diploma)DESIRED EDUCATION: Formal IPC course / Post Graduate diploma in
IPCREQUIRED EXPERIENCEESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3-5 Years working in a hospital environment as a professional healthcare practitionerDESIRED EXPERIENCE: 1 - 2 years IPC related work, supervision of a
small teamREQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Conducting a system analysis of healthcare,associated infections and institute preventative measures
• Interpretation and application of the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) definitions
• Auditing (e.g. compliance to hand hygiene and environmental cleaning audits)
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• IPC surveillance and risk identification
• Report writing skills
• Identification; investigation and management of outbreaks
• Understanding and application of relevant IPC principles
• Data analysis and interpretation
• Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and accreditation standards
• Knowledge and experience in quality improvement methodology
