MAIN PURPOSE OF JOBTo assist with the implementation and maintenance of a functional Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) programme at hospital levelKEY RESPONSIBILITY AREASIdentify, mitigate and manage risks related to Infection Prevention and ControlInvestigate, analyse and interpret clinical data and act upon findingsEnsure adherence to statutory bodiesIdentify training needs in the hospital and provide input in the development of training materialInfluence and equip hospital teams to understand and comply with IPC policies and principlesProvide support with patient safety and quality improvement initiatives in the absence of the Patient Safety ManagerContinuous professional developmentTo manage key stakeholder relationsREQUIRED EDUCATIONESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Nursing qualification (degree or diploma)DESIRED EDUCATION: IPC courseREQUIRED EXPERIENCEESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2-4 Years working in a hospital environment as a professional healthcare practitionerDESIRED EXPERIENCE: 1 year IPC related workREQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Quality improvement methodologies
• Conducting a system analysis of healthcare,associated infections and institute preventative measures
• Interpretation and application of the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) definitions
• Auditing (e.g. compliance to hand hygiene and environmental cleaning audits)
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• IPC surveillance and risk identification
• Report writing skills
• Identification; investigation and management of outbreaks
• Understanding and application of relevant IPC principles
• Relevant statutory requirements and accreditation standards
• Data analysis and interpretation
