KONE has several strategic positions to support its Global and Local Sustainable Winning with Customers strategy and the Installation Manager role in Durban is one of these positions. This position will support KONE South Africa in achieving its Strategic Targets and Ways to Win in the strategy while further driving operational excellence in contract/project management in both new and modernization projects.Reporting directly to the Delivery and Operations Manager, we are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Installation Manager to be based in our Durban office. In this role, you will lead the installation teams and be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the completion of all projects for KONE, while ensuring these projects are on time, on budget, and within scope. The position will also require you to manage specific large projects where you will be accountable for managing the scope, schedule, and budget of the assigned project(s). You will be the interface with all key stakeholders both internally and externally during the project, especially focusing on continuous, proactive collaboration with the customer. You will plan, direct, and coordinate the project activities to ensure that project objectives are accomplished within the agreed schedule and budget, using approved KONE methodologies and tools with the primary objective of customer satisfaction and KONE profitability.The Installation Manager focuses on creating customer trust, value, and loyalty and hence we are looking for somebody with a proven track record of being someone who considers attention to detail as a priority. We need someone who can influence, is result-driven, and has strong commercial acumen.What will you do?Project Delivery and Installation

  • Be accountable for project scope, schedule, and budget, delivering the project within the defined contractual requirements and KONE objectives.
  • Be responsible for Installation capacity planning and accountable for optimized resource (people and tools) utilization.
  • Actively monitor and report installation performance, ensuring action on deviations.
  • Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan.
  • Ensure continuous full-chain project monitoring and control.
  • Be responsible for continuous improvement of safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Be responsible for managing the quality of installation subcontractors.
  • Take the lead with customer interaction on site as well as with installation-related customer disputes and escalations management.
  • Ensure professional stakeholder management.
  • Be accountable for proactively managing customer communication throughout the project.
  • Ensure integrated project planning and management with customers and KONE full chain teams.
Project Management
  • Be responsible for successful project start-up, project reviews, project reporting, and facilitating project governance.
  • Ensure that project status and progress is effectively communicated to KONE management and to customers.
  • Be responsible for operational and financial project risk identification, mitigation, contingency planning, and potential recovery actions.
  • Be accountable for the projects financial planning and forecasting, cash flow management and revenue management (capitalizing on change order opportunities).
  • Be accountable for actively driving Sales-to-Operations handover quality, accountable for handovers to Customer and Maintenance as well as project closing activities.
  • Maintain master action log and lessons learned document.
  • Plan and ensure sufficient project resourcing and competencies.
  • Manage and lead the full chain project team.
  • Create and maintain safety and security awareness amongst employees and subcontractors in the project. Ensures following of KONE's and Customers safety and security policies.
Leadership / People management
  • Manage the competence, activities, and performance of Project Staff.
  • Proactively manage the capacity of his/her team as per the decisions made in the Sales and Operations planning process.
  • Perform site and process audits within his/her team to ensure compliance with installation methods, safety policies, and KONE Way / locally agreed practices.
Operations management
  • Ensure that both KONE and subcontracted installers are trained, certified, competent, and capable of carrying out their work.
  • Be responsible for making sure that the safety and quality audits are carried out.
  • Be responsible for the development of Project Staff.
Are you the one?
  • Hold a Diploma or higher in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Project Management Professional qualification, PMP is desirable.
  • Minimum 5 + years experience in Project Management and leading teams while managing the deliverables with external stakeholders such as construction managers, QS, project managers, and subcontractors.
  • Experience in running Civil, Construction, and/or electrical projects through the full lifecycle.
  • Ability to drive the Project Management framework, while focusing on project scope, schedule, and budget, delivering the project within the defined contractual requirements and objectives.
  • Highly Experienced in MS Office Suite and in particular MS Projects.
  • Effective stakeholder management through the project management process.
  • Regular project status effectively communicated to KONE management and to customers.
  • Effective leader and coach with the ability to motivate a successful installation and sales team.
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, diligent, organized self-starter with an orientation towards a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to work together as a team and promote a harmonious environment.
  • Passion for Mechanical & Electrical vocations, with a proven track record and a strong customer focus.
  • Excellent English communication.
