Kumba Iron Ore

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects - exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.





-As Instructor Driving Permits you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Safety, Health and Environment

Consistently apply Safety and Health principles in interactions and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities. Collect and summarise the specific risks within the working area and implement plans/systems to avoid these risks. Manage Safety and Health systems within the work area. Support site visits by internal and external visitors to ensure adherence to site safety systems (including induction).

Performance and Delivery

Training Material:

Assist in designing, developing and maintaining training material, programmes and driving permit assessments. Conduct training with an emphasis on the actual tasks and the work to be performed in an authentic setting Control and maintain the administration of training documents. Assist with e-learning and updating training material related to LDVs. Delivery of Training per prescribed standards.

Assessments:

Scheduling of Red permit and Defensive Driving assessments. Assess LDVs in operations. Conduct practical assessments and risk-based training to issue driving permits. Monitor assessments and prepare monthly reports.

This role is in the People & Organisation (P&O) NC at a Band 8 level reporting to the LD Supervisor.

Qualifications

-Grade 12 Assessor / Moderator registration with MQA NQF5 (Recommended) SA Drivers Licence Code B

Experience

3-5 years of relevant experience assessing driving permits in a mining environment. Knowledge of structured methodologies to investigate risks and opportunities to create compelling technical solutions is necessary for this role. Knowledge of project and active resource management skills is needed to establish and nurture beneficial business relationships. Familiarity with project and resource management tools and techniques is required to apply them within one's role effectively. Understanding and adherence to standards and recommended practices is essential in this position.
