A pot-plant nursery located in Krugersdorp is looking for a full-time IPM Coordinator. Reporting to the Farm Manager/Owner.The IPM Coordinator, or Integrated Pest Management Coordinator, is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive pest management strategies that prioritize environmentally sustainable methods, utilizing a combination of monitoring, prevention, and targeted control techniques to minimize pest populations while adhering to regulatory standards; this role typically involves field scouting, pest identification, selecting appropriate control methods, training staff, maintaining detailed records, and reporting on pest management activities across the facility or agricultural operation.Key responsibilities of an IPM Manager:Pest monitoring and scouting:Regularly inspect areas to identify pest populations, monitor pest activity levels, and assess potential risks.Developing IPM plans:Create customized pest management strategies together with the Farm Manager based on pest identification, life cycles, and environmental factors, incorporating cultural controls, biological controls, and chemical treatments when necessary.Pesticide selection and application oversight:Choose appropriate pesticides based on IPM principles, ensuring safe and effective application while adhering to label instructions and regulatory requirements.Staff training and education:Train team members on proper IPM practices, pest identification, monitoring techniques, and safe pesticide handling.Recordkeeping and reporting:Maintain detailed records of pest sightings, control measures implemented, pesticide usage, and treatment results, generating reports for management.Compliance management:Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal pest management regulations, including proper labelling and storage of pesticides.Cost analysis and budget management:In collaboration with the farm manager/owner, track pest control expenses and identify cost-effective solutions within budget constraints.Required fields of knowledge :
