Technical & Production Manager - East Rand, JHB

The Paper factory based in East Rand is looking for a Technical & Production Manager with Millwright Certificate. The purpose of this position is the maintenance of machinery and plant to ensure continued mechanical and electrical operation and performance within a Lean Manufacturing environment and to ensure that all maintenance operations are conducted within the quality, health, and safety requirements of the company, as well as overseeing and managing production and staff within the facility. This role reports directly into the General Manager. Salary 32 000 CTC.

Responsibilities:
• Follow established systems, policies, and procedures.
• Adhere to Health and Safety regulations.
• Report problems to Management.
• Attend to mechanical/electrical breakdowns and maintenance
• Maintain and repair all mechanical and electrical plants and equipment.
• Liaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements
• Estimate costs and prepare budgets
• Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines
• Monitor production to resolve issues
• Supervise and evaluate the performance of production personnel.
• Determine the required amount of human resources and raw materials required to meet targets and deadlines.
• Approve maintenance work, purchasing of equipment etc.
• Ensure output meets quality standards
• Enforce health and safety precautions
• Report to senior management.
• Plan and discuss preventative maintenance with the General Manager.
• Report to the General Manager any problems or faults and breakdowns occurring within the plant.
• Have the authority to stop any machine or practice that is unsafe, or not producing quality products – in consultation with either the supervisor, General manager, or factory manager.
• Develop and improve all aspects of the production lines technically.
• Correctly complete work orders issued to him or generated by him, and to return them to the General Manager.
• Complete all downtime reports as well as planned maintenance schedules for the allocated lines.
• To lubricate machines/moving parts/chains and conveyors with the correct grease and oils.
• To assist with production-related tasks as and when required.
• Maintenance of machinery and plant as a whole.
Safety
• Safety is extremely important, and the employee will be responsible for:
• Following all the company’s safety rules and policies.
• Wearing safety equipment and PPE
• Reporting all dangerous or unsafe behavior to the supervisor or the General Manager

Requirements: 
• Trade Test Certification (Millwright).
• Must have 5- 8 years’ experience working in a similar environment
• Knowledge and experience in the paper rewinding industry would be an advantage.
• Able to read and understand mechanical/electrical drawings.
• Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics
• Have a good understanding of PLC’s and general programming
• Understand and visualize layout from reading floor plans and drawings
• 3 Phase, single-phase, low voltage knowledge.
• Understanding of 3 phase motors,brake systems, resolvers.
• Understanding low voltage servo drives & sensor.
• Understanding of Sensors optic and vicinity.
• Understanding of Pneumatic & Hydraulic control
• Understanding of Mechanical Bearing replacement and alignment.
• Understanding of Pulley wheel alignment.
• Understanding of Shaft alignment and coupling setting and alignment
