Job Summary Interim Financial Controller - Strong Management Accounts - 3 - 6 month contract Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Financial Controller to lead the day-to-day activities of the Finance Department. The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to accounting rigour, as well as strong background in management accounting and cost accounting, with a proven track record of financial management and leadership. The Financial Controller will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, manage financial reporting, handle all accounting and tax filings and audits, and support strategic decision-making. The candidate will support the leadership team to overhaul management accounts and our cost and profitability analysis. Key Responsibilities: 1. Financial Management: Lead the full accounting and financial function, including preparation of financial reports, cash flow forecasts, control of debtors, VAT, and other tax-related returns. Ensure compliance with submission of all other financial-related statutory returns, including RMA (COIDA). Monitor, evaluate and optimise cash flows and debtors, implementing strategies to minimize negative impacts. Oversee the daily operations of the finance department and finance team of 5 people, including accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information. 2. Payroll Oversee both wages and salaried employees'' payrolls using the Accyss payroll software. Ensure all statutory and related returns (e.g., UIF, SDL, PAYE, Medical Aid, Union subscription returns) are submitted, knowing that the company falls under the Bargaining Council for the Metal Industry. Provide support to the Human Resources Manager in ensuring Employment Equity reports are submitted on time and that financial and payroll information is accurate. 3. Management Accounting and Cost Accounting: Prepare, analyse, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior management. Develop and monitor budgets, financial and operational KPI schedules, cashflow and accounting forecasts, and strategic financial plans. Work with the leadership and the manufacturing operations team to build robust costing and profitability analysis by products, projects and clients Ensure accurate costing of products, services, and projects. Provide cost information and analysis to support pricing, budgeting, and decision-making. 4. BBBEE Take accountability of BBBEE initiatives through accurate record keeping, liaising with consultants and identifying areas where the best return on investments can be achieved. 5. Team Leadership: Be a key contributor to strategic decisions and strategies of the company. Lead and mentor finance team to ensure high performance, rigorous standards and accuracy. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment. 6. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements. Oversee audits and work closely with external auditors. Identify and mitigate financial risks. 7. Strategic Support: Provide financial analysis, insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making. Collaborate with other departments (including operations, manufacturing and sales) to drive business performance and achieve company goals. Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives as needed. Secondary Responsibilities: 9. Procurement: Coordinate all purchasing functions with direct control over the Procurement Stores. Identify areas of improvement, including stock holdings, maintaining records of preferred suppliers, and principles of best practices. Track and monitor key operational efficiency KPIs 10. Information Technology To coordinate and liaise with both consultants and internal users on systems and operations of the various software programmes knowing that the Company currently utilises the Syspro financial system as well as MS-Office, whereas manufacturing recently introduced Synchro. Adopt a "continual improvement" approach to all IT related matters as well as providing support and training for the users. Qualifications: - High level of integrity and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. - Experience in an industrial or manufacturing sector preferred. - Bachelor''s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. - Chartered Accountant (CA) designation strongly preferred. - Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and preparation of statutory and management accounts, with considerable experience leading management reporting and analysis. - Excellent computer skills with advanced Excel - Prior experience with the Syspro accounting system is preferred. - Fast learner with the ability to adapt quickly to new systems and processes. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. - Strong leadership and team management abilities Salary - +- R125 000pmTop Talent Professional ServicesRecruiter
