Job Description

Job Purpose:Lead internal control activities, establish and monitor internal control frameworks, and liaise with internal and external auditors. Assist CFO with financial reporting and other related tasks.Responsibilities:Internal Control Framework:Develop and document internal control frameworks.Perform and document process walkthroughs.Identify, document, and map key controls to COSO framework.Identify control gaps and implement solutions.Deploy and train new controls.Establish consensus with control owners.Monitoring Compliance:Plan and execute ongoing internal control compliance monitoring.Communicate and assist in remediating internal control deficiencies.Report to CFO and Head of Internal Audit on internal control effectiveness.Adjust controls as needed and stay updated on process changes.Audit Support:Liaise with internal and external auditors.Schedule audits and distribute request lists.Review audit reports and assist in addressing findings.Respond to audit queries and support CFO in Audit Committee meetings.Financial Reporting:Assist in preparing management accounts and annual financial statements.Support quarterly board report preparation.Other Duties:Research new accounting pronouncements and regulations.Perform backup general ledger accounting and Finance Manager duties.Manage Finance department vendors.Participate in enterprise risk management.Handle ad hoc requests from CFO.Skills & Qualifications:CA (SA) certification required (non-negotiable).IIA certification is a plus.2+ years post-SAICA articles experience.Similar industry experience in insurance preferred.Advanced computer literacy, especially Excel.Ability to self-start, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently.Strong communication skills.Willingness to travel within South Africa at least twice a year.Additional Skills:Build and manage new frameworks in an ambiguous environment.Engage with accountants and non-accountants across functional units.
