This system is powered by market-leading technology on-boarding private equity data we obtained through their extensive network of various participants within South Africa's private equity sector.They now seek an investment fund of funds manager to join their team.

The company feel that they are adequately resourced from an admin and back-office standpoint so this placement needs to be an investment team senior.They have a pipeline of staff on the right development path but they're lacking time in the saddle, so this hire is for a senior, experienced mentor role.JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
  • You will be required to play a pivotal role in identifying, evaluating and executing investment opportunities across a diverse range of investment funds investing into multiple industries and sectors;
  • You will be required to have experience in co investment alongside other vetted investment fund managers into underlying portfolio companies or projects;
  • You will be required to work closely with the investment team to conduct fund manager sourcing, fund manager due diligence, negotiate legal terms, develop financial models, conduct, analyse market trends and provide ongoing support to the invested fund managers;
  • You will be required to contribute to the funds investment decision-making process and participate in discussion forums, ensure the accuracy and integrity of investment valuations, and support the achievement of financial objectives for the fund and its investors;
  • You will be required to contribute to the growth and success of incubating the next generation of majority black owned private markets managers in South Africa;
  • You are a dynamic successful private markets fund of funds specialist;
  • Deal screening:
  • You will be required to screen and review incoming investment proposals, pitch decks, and business plans to assess alignment with fund investment criteria and objectives;
  • You will be required to prepare preliminary investment memos for review and discussion by the investment committee;
  • Due diligence:
  • You will be required to conduct thorough due diligence on potential investment targets, including market analysis, competitive landscape assessment, financial modelling and risk evaluation;
  • Investment analysis and decision-making:
  • You will be required to prepare investment memos, investment theses, and presentation materials for review and discussion by the investment committee.
  • You will be required to assist in the formulation of investment recommendations and decisions based on rigorous analysis, strategic alignment, and risk-return considerations;
  • Legal negotiations;
  • You will be required to review and provide comments and suggestions to limited partnership agreements, side letters and co investment agreements;
  • Portfolio management support:
  • You will be required to support fund manager activities, including financial performance tracking and performance reporting;
  • You will be required to monitor fund manager investments by representing the fund on the LPAC and being an observer on underlying Fund managers' investment committee meetings;
  • Market research and trend analysis:
  • You will be required to stay abreast of industry trends and market developments to identify investment opportunities and inform investment strategies;
  • You will be required to conduct market research and competitor analysis to assess market positioning, differentiation, and potential disruptors within target sectors;
  • Valuation analysis:
  • You will be required to apply appropriate valuation methodologies, such as discounted cash flow, comparable company analysis and precedent transactions to determine the fair value of investments;
  • You will be required to demonstrate a high level of proficiency within a financial modelling environment to aid in the co investment process;
  • Reporting and communication:
  • You will be required to prepare regular reports, presentations, and updates for internal stakeholders and investors on investment activities, portfolio performance and market trends;
  • You will be required to communicate investment recommendations, findings and insights effectively to senior management.
CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
  • You have strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with proficiency in Excel and financial valuation techniques;
  • You have a demonstrated ability to conduct market research, industry analysis and due diligence on investment opportunities;
  • You have a proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and multiple priorities;
  • You have a passion for entrepreneurship, technology innovation and early-stage investing;
  • You have excellent communication (written and verbal) skills in English with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and concisely.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • You bachelors degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field at least at honours level;
  • You have an advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CFA, CA(SA)) - this is preferred;
  • You have a minimum of 5 years current, relevant experience in asset management, management consulting, private equity or infrastructure;
  • You have fund of funds experience;
