IT Copper & Fibre Optic Cabling Technician - DurbanFull job descriptionDuties & ResponsibilitiesJoining and maintaining of Copper CablesSplicing and terminating of all main optic fibre cablesMaintaining the networksBuilding off new cable routingTesting off all new copper & fiber optic cable projects after completionThe investigation and repair of faulty servicesCutover and remaking of communication jointsThe completion off all relevant reports and documentation, detailing test resultsThe requesting and managing of all materials needed for specific projectsManaging projects to ensure no over or under spending occurs and it is completed on timeOversee tasks on site as per required standardsReport any challenges or shortcoming to direct line managerEffective management of test and splicing equipmentContinuously conduct tests and repair fibre related faultsComply with all health and safety requirementsEnsure that response and repair times are kept within service delivery parametersBroadening own functional and technical and industry competenciesTimely fault escalation within an hour to direct line managerEnsure that all job cards, incident reports & stock sheets are fully completed and submitted withintime parametersEnsure that test results are recorded, updates and communicated to the customerDaily patrolling and supervising allocated areas and jobsTake full responsibility of company vehicle and equipment under its controlAttend meetings (operational and / or site planning) as and when requiredDrawing up scope off work, drawings and quotationsAttend trainings when requiredStock Room management & reporting ensuring adequate stock levelsTraining safety inductionTool box talksRisk assessments before commencing a jobHealth records are up to date and valid licences e.g. heightContinuous planned work & executionEnsuring work permits are secured before commencing any workRequirementsMust have experience in copper & fibre optic cabling (installation & fault finding)Must have a Drivers Licence code 8Must be in good healthMust be willing to work overtime & weekendsMicrosoft and Drawing application experience is advantageousSupervisory and co-ordination experience is advantageousJob Type: Full-timePay: R9 000,00 - R15 000,00 per monthAbility to commute/relocate:Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Education:Certificate (Preferred)Experience:Fibre optic and copper cabling: 3 years (Required)Location:Durban, KwaZulu-Natal (Required)Application Deadline: 2024/05/31Expected Start Date: 2024/06/01
