Reporting to
Chief Executive Officer
Job Purpose To provide strategic direction aimed at aligning information technology (IT) with business goals, including but not limited to developing, leading and implementing an IT strategy that meets the companys current and emerging business needs and supports the digital transformation of the business, steering the building of relevant IT infrastructure and directing IT investments, projects, costs, and innovation accordingly.
Required Learning
BSc/BCom in Computer Science or related field.
Minimum 10 years IT work experience required, including at least 5 years as a CIO/IT Director/IT Executive in accompany with a revenue of at least 5 Billion
In-depth understanding of a tier 1 ERP systems (Oracle/SAP).
Understanding of Factory Systems.
Understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems.
Industry 4.0/Pharma 4.0 exposure.
Pharmaceutical or FMCG sector

IT Strategy
Develop, implement and maintain the overall IT strategy aligned with the companys business strategy.
Ensure that technology initiatives support and enhance the overall business strategy.
Information Security
Oversee the development and implementation of Cyber security strategies, tools and measures to protect the companys information assets.
IT Governance
Establish and implement IT policies, procedures, and standards.
Ensure that IT practices align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Align IT governance to support overall corporate governance.
Focus on data management and protection of personal information.
Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Risk Management
Develop and maintain a business continuity plan in the event of IT disruptions or disasters.
Implement strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.
Identify potential risks and ensure plans, systems and structure in place to manage risk.
Technology Management
Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust IT infrastructure.
Ensure that all operating systems and hardware technology are secure, reviewed, maintained, and expanded on for operational efficiency.
Manage the lifecycle of the technology solutions.
Steer the building / upgrading of IT infrastructure.
Operational software license management.
Application Systems Management
Enhance and maintain current applications landscape.
Investigate, source and / or develop new systems as required by the company.
Ensure seamless system integration for internal systems as well as integration to external systems.
Monitor systems implementation and measure use thereof, and manage user expectations.
Manage the maintenance, support, and upgrade of existing systems to ensure smooth running of the business.
Keep abreast of the latest trends and changes in technologies and advise management accordingly.
Application systems software license management.
Business Information
Manage the Business Information function to ensure reliable and timely reporting and dashboards.
Enhance and expand Business Information to improve overall information availability to facilitate sound business decisions.
Digital Transformation
Support the digital transformation of the business.
Identify opportunities to leverage technology for digital transformation.
Lead the implementation of Industry 4.0/Pharma 4.0 principles.
IT Project Management
Lead the implementation of IT projects from initiation to completion, including planning, financial and resource allocation, risk management, and timely delivery.
Manage expenditure to ensure projects are delivered within the approved budget.
Track, monitor and report on project progress and advise on challenges regarding project implementation.
Stakeholder Relationship Management
Create sound working relationship with colleagues on Exco team and rest of Management teams.
Build and manage sound working relationships with the IT service provider(s).
Financial Management
Prepare the annual expense and capex budgets for the department and monitor and manage expenditure against approved budgets.
Ensure procurement in compliance with procurement policies and authorise expenses aligned to the approved budget.
Manage departmental assets.
Human Capital Management
Ensure appropriate IT Organisational structure and staff in place to support IT Strategy.
Provide guidance, coaching, mentoring and advice to subordinates.
