What will you do?

The role of the Information Governance Specialist is to act in support of the development, management, and delivery of the SanlamAllianz Information Governance programme with a special focus on its francophone Operating Entities. The Information Governance Specialist will work with the Head of the SanlamAllianz Information Office in actively supporting the various Information Governance communities within the SanlamAllianz cluster. Information governance responsibilities include dissemination and implementation of policies, principles, standards, metrics, and tools related to data and information, monitoring and reporting on policy compliance, change management and business advisory support.

  • Contributes to the SanlamAllianz information governance strategy and identifies improvements and opportunities.
  • Contributes to the overall SanlamAllianz information governance program plans.
  • Monitors policy updates and facilitates French translation and / or required document reviews.
  • Participates in the deployment and maintenance of data standards, ensuring continued socialisation, adoption and compliance by SanlamAllianz Operating Entities (OEs) within the francophone regions.
  • Monitors, measures and reports on OEs' data stewardship levels and adoption.
  • Responsible for maintaining the information governance framework, including principles, operating model, processes and controls within designated OEs.
  • Participates in and collaborates with the Sanlam Group Information Governance team and other Sanlam Group clusters on disciplines such as data governance, data quality, data privacy, data usage and sharing and regulatory compliance, to ensure alignment and a compliant state to Group policies and standards.
  • Facilitates and participates and / or leads cross-functional committees and working groups to support data and compliance initiatives.
  • Serves as a point of contact to develop and sustain data management controls for compliance and security throughout the life cycle of data and services for francophone OEs.
  • Contributes to the development of and provides support in the practical implementation guidance to support business requirements and compliance.
  • Serves as a point of contact for data and information governance implementation related issues.
  • Prepares progress reporting for relevant information governance structures and committees.
  • Facilitates OE annual information governance maturity assessments.
  • Contributes to and reviews quarterly reporting for submissions into the necessary Group level leadership forums and working groups.
  • Works with various stakeholders across SanlamAllianz to ensure implementation and maintenance of the data management framework.
  • Facilitates data management training requirements by contributing or reviewing course content design and delivering training to convey data management concepts when required.
Qualification and Experience
  • National Diploma/ bachelor's degree in computer science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or another quantitative field preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in implementing and / or supporting Governance programs.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in financial services (i.e., Insurance, Financial services, or Banking).
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP Ex); advantageous.
  • Experience supporting CxO's to define transformation programmes, identifying value, developing realistic benchmarks and implementing such programmes, supported by appropriate technologies.
  • Exposure to data quality, data governance and master data management technologies is desirable.
