IT Network Engineer - Cape TownFull job descriptionWe are looking for an IT Network Engineer to maintain and support our growing network infrastructure. The IT Network Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining a robust and dependable network infrastructure for our organisation. The ideal candidate should have excellent problem-solving abilities and be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail.Key Responsibilities Hands-on WAN and LAN support across the Truworths estate. Monitoring network infrastructure & performance and ensure system availability and reliability. Configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g. routers, switches, QoS, Shaping, Wireless, Access Management etc). Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations o Ensure continued optimal configuration of our network infrastructure. o Understand patching requirements and the impact of these changes. Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers, including technical and non-technical stakeholders, to ensure timely resolution of network-related issues. Capacity and Asset Management of the Network Infrastructure o Maintaining Asset inventory o Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning o Forecasting the growth in infrastructure requirements Provide Level two/three support and troubleshooting to resolve issues: o Participate in an on-call rotation for critical network incidents and issues outside of business hours. Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure. Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the companys security team. Participate and share insights on future network strategy and technologies. Project Management of network and data centre related initiatives. Document designs, specifications and implementations.Qualifications and Experience 2 - 4 years of technical experience obtained within a Network and/or Information Security environment. A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent. Experience with network hardware (routers, switches, and firewalls) and wireless technologies. Relevant certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). Knowledge of network concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, SDWAN, IP, ARP, ICMP etc. Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.Competencies Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
