Job Description

We are looking for the "right person" to join the companys IT Technical team asap.

The role will be based at a corporate office in Sandton, Johannesburg, working to support the IT infrastructure there, while also working on other client sites/projects in the region.

Please note that in terms of travelling clients - this person would have the company car and use it to drive to clients - petrol would be covered

Basic Salary (no benefits)- 15 days leave, no Pension or Medical Aid

The right person should be knowledgeable and experienced working with IT systems such as networks and servers technology, as well as with typical IT services and systems found in a most business environments. Having good communication and problem-solving skills and being able to work effectively with staff at all levels across an organisation is crucial.

Typical Responsibilities and Requirements:

Provide technical support to the site as and when needed.

Be an effective problem solver show initiative, professionalism, be a good communicator, be a quick learner.

Perform Server Management (Domain, Exchange, AD, File, Print, and Storage) as and when required.

Good network understanding ability to work with any high end vendor equipment such as Cisco, Ruckus, Extreme, Aruba etc. Assist with network design and capacity planning, including setting up of VLANs and other network configurations. Something an experienced person should have no issue with even if not familiar with a brand.

Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices

Assist with strategies for client/server implementations; and the infrastructure required to support those strategies.

Assist with new server systems, applications, and hardware.

Implement policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure IT Security.

Prioritise and respond to help desk tickets as appropriate.

Plan and implement server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.

Provide VoIP and ISP support.

Recommend and execute modifications to server environment to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.

Develop and maintain server and network documentation as and when required.

Administer equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.

Practice asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.

Perform server and security audits.

Perform and maintain system backups and recovery via backup software.

Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.

Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.

Work with the Cape Town based Technology team at this site as well as other sites as and when needed.

Key Experience we are looking for:

Have at least ten years work experience

Has worked at for at least 2 organisations for 3 years or more. References will be needed.

Having solid network knowledge and experience - we will discuss at length.

Have experienced in installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of Windows and Linux server hardware.

Have familiarity with TCP/IP and other network protocols, firewall management, and operating system configuration.

Knowledge of virtualisation technology an advantage.
