Job Description


Join my client's team as a Junior Accountant and take on a pivotal role in maintaining the financial integrity of their organisation.This role is based in Wadeville, Johannesburg East.Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-Spectrum Accounting: Manage accounting functions up to trial balance, including handling debtors, creditors, general ledger, and cashbook activities.
  • Financial Record Keeping: Ensure accurate and complete financial records are maintained to uphold the integrity of our financial data.
  • Gross Profit (GP) Analysis: Perform GP analysis with an understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) and standard costing.
  • Operational Expenditure Validation: Validate operating expenses and implement cost-saving measures to optimize financial efficiency.
  • Stock Control: Conduct monthly investigations into stock variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Purchase Order Management: Maintain the open purchase order list, including provisions and accruals.
  • Balance Sheet Maintenance: Manage balance sheet items and ensure external verification of balances related to debtors, creditors, and loans.
  • Hire Purchase Agreements: Oversee and maintain hire purchase agreements.
  • Asset Register Maintenance: Maintain the asset register and calculate monthly depreciation for accurate asset accounting.
  • Capex Procedure Compliance: Ensure adherence to capital expenditure (capex) procedures and correct asset accounting.
  • Wear and Tear Schedule: Maintain the wear and tear schedule for tax purposes to ensure compliance.
  • Statutory Compliance: Handle submission of statutory returns and ensure timely payments to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Payment Pack Preparation: Prepare and review payment packs to support efficient financial operations.
  • VAT Reconciliation: Reconcile VAT accounts, including input, output, and control accounts, and manage VAT audits and document submissions.
  • Financial Process Improvement: Work with the finance manager to implement and improve financial processes and internal controls.
  • Cash Flow Planning: Prepare and plan for cash flow to support the organization's financial health.
  • Audit and Budget Preparation: Assist in preparing information for yearly audits and budgeting processes.
  • Data Analysis Support: Assist the financial manager with analyzing data and identifying key drivers for informed decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to provide essential financial information to support strategic decisions.
  • Bank Beneficiaries: Prepare bank beneficiaries for loading onto the bank system, ensuring accurate financial transactions.
Qualifications and Skills required:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Completed SAICA/SAIPA Articles (non-negotiable).
  • 2 years post articles experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data handling.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Good communication skills for effective stakeholder interaction.
