Purpose: As a Junior Health and Safety Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the health and safety initiatives within the telecommunications sector. Youll work under the guidance of senior safety officers to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment for all employees. The role is highly focused on ensuring that the company's and clients health and safety policies are followed, and it involves a mix of administrative duties, on-site assessments, and team collaboration.Key Duties and Responsibilities (Duties Include but not limited to):1. Safety Inspections and Audits:Assist in conducting regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazardsand risks.Ensure all work areas comply with health and safety regulations and policies.Support the monitoring of safety equipment and emergency systems (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, etc.).2. Risk Assessment:Help in performing risk assessments and hazard evaluations for various tasks and areas within thecompany.Assist in the identification and documentation of workplace hazards.3. Safety Documentation and Reporting:Maintain records of safety inspections, audits, incidents, and accident reports.Ensure that safety documentation is up-to-date and accessible for review.Assist in preparing reports on safety incidents and recommendations for improvements.4. Employee Training and Support:Help organize safety training sessions for employees on topics such as emergency procedures, proper useof protective equipment, and hazard awareness.Support in promoting and enforcing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) across theorganization.Provide employees with guidance on health and safety concerns.5. Accident Investigation:Support in investigating workplace accidents and near misses.Help gather evidence and information for incident investigations.Assist in recommending corrective actions to prevent similar incidents.6. Compliance:Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.Stay updated on new health and safety laws, regulations, and industry best practices.Assist in preparing for safety audits by regulatory bodies.7. Reporting and Administration:Assist in compiling safety data and reporting to senior health and safety personnel.Help in tracking safety performance metrics (accident rates, training attendance, etc.).Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities.RequirementsDiploma in Safety Management or related qualificationsCandidacy in SACPCMP or proof of Registration processCertification in HIRA, First aid, fire fighter and Defensive driving.Drivers LicenseOwn vehicle (advantageous)Computer literate (MS Office)Knowledge of OHSAExperience within telecommunication industry would be advantageous
