Job Description
Job Summary Reporting to: General Manager: Stage Services Purpose: To operate stage automation system (stage machinery and flying system) during set-ups, rehearsals, lighting sessions, performances & strikes while working under tight safety guidelines. Main Duties: Ensure that stage machinery is functioning correctly. Ensure the safe rigging and flying of flown scenery/equipment/house curtains. Report all faulty mechanisms/machinery/control equipment. Obtain and act on hanging plot from Production Manager. Provide the Production and Stage Managers with a hanging plot cue sheet. Ensure that stage and backstage areas are safe and ready for rehearsals and performances. Assist with get-ins, set-ups, scene changes, change-overs, strikes and get-outs. Operate stage machinery during set-ups, rehearsals, lighting sessions, performances and strikes. Maintain and ensure the cleanliness of all machinery/equipment/areas of specialized skill. Ensure compliance of fire and safety regulations. Keep personal accurate and up to date time keeping records Ensure the safe handling of house curtains / black surround Ensure that black surround and other house curtains are properly handled and stored. Educational & Experience Requirements Matric certificate. Must have an excellent track record of relevant experience The candidate must possess sound knowledge of the operation and usage of stage automation system used in Performing Arts Theatres Minimum of 3-5 YEARS
