Job Description

A Junior Technician/Engineer is required to join a client based in Cape Town. The role involves responsibilities in technical design, quality control, client liaison, and contract administration.Duties and Responsibilities:

• Obtaining or maintaining professional status in accordance with prevailing legislation and standards;
• Perform engineering duties in planning, designing and construction management projects;
• Analyse survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography and other topographical or geological data to plan projects;
• Plan and design projects following engineering standards using design software and drawing tools;
• Keep detailed engineering design documentation as required by prevailing legislation and standards;
• Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design standards and specifications;
• Direct construction and operations activities at project site;
• Prepare and confirm quantities of material as part of preparations of contract documentation;
• Prepare & review engineering reports, including but not limited to, bid proposals, environmental impact assessments, progress reports and project completion reports;
• Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or contract modification;
• Manage and oversee that all contracts are managed efficiently in terms of the relevant general conditions of contract;
• Certification of contractor payment certificates and any other financial documentation;
• Manage contract administration (site meetings and minutes, client correspondence, contractor claims and disputes, etc).

Requirements:

• Matric
• Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering
• Required experience gained
• At least 2-3 years in a similar role within engineering, construction, or project management.
• Proficiency in design software, quality control procedures, and contract administration.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
