Overview
We are currently assisting our client, a prominent player in the ICT solutions field, in their search for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Centre and Server Administrator. This role is based at a client site and will be responsible for managing and maintaining Windows and Exchange servers, ensuring their optimal performance, security, and availability. The successful candidate will leverage their in-depth knowledge of server administration, particularly in Windows and Exchange environments, to support the client's data centre operations, virtualization technologies, and network infrastructure.
 
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience as a Senior Data Centre and Server Administrator, with a focus on Windows and Exchange server administration.
Expert knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019), Active Directory, and Exchange Server (2010, 2013, 2016, 2019).
Strong understanding of data centre operations, including rack and stack procedures, power distribution, cooling, and network connectivity.
Proficiency in virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Experience with server monitoring and management tools (e.g., SCOM, SolarWinds).
Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery strategies and technologies.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administer and manage Windows and Exchange servers, ensuring their efficient operation, performance, and reliability.
Monitor server performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning to ensure optimal server operations and identify potential issues or bottlenecks.
Perform regular system maintenance, including patching, upgrades, and backups, following established procedures and best practices.
Proactively identify and troubleshoot server-related problems, taking appropriate actions to resolve issues promptly and minimize downtime.
Collaborate with the IT team to plan, design, and implement server infrastructure improvements and enhancements.
Maintain and enforce server security protocols, including user access controls, permissions, and authentication mechanisms.
Monitor and respond to server alerts and notifications, ensuring the timely resolution of incidents and minimizing their impact on business operations.
Conduct regular audits of server configurations and implement necessary changes or updates to maintain compliance with industry standards and security policies.
Provide technical guidance and support to junior server administrators, sharing knowledge and promoting skill development within the team.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in server administration, data centre operations, and virtualization to propose and implement innovative solutions.
