Senior Ruby Developer (JB1135) 
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa 
Salary: £60 000 (R100 000) per month + benefits (Highly Negotiable) 
Duration: Permanent 
Established seven years ago, our UK based client has expanded its operations into five locations and currently seeking to kickstart a hub in South Africa. This trusted Fintech develops innovative software solutions to make saving for retirement easier. 
We are looking for a Senior Ruby Developer who is considered as a leader in their field to join a global team to develop and enhance retirement applications. You should ideally be someone with commercial experience and used to building modern applications. The ideal person would be an individual that values transparency, who is team-orientated and who is accountable. The company works on a hybrid model, with three days per week in the office. 

The company follows Engineering best practices and their approach is to keep code clean and ensure it has thorough test coverage, this is more important to them than hitting deadlines. Accuracy, security and stability of the platform are vital, with constant adaption to new technologies.
Responsibilities
Develop new user-facing features
Engineering a better code base with your team
Work within an agile engineering team
Work on tickets assigned to you, this includes writing code and specs (tests) and checking that new code passes other test coverage
Review Pull Requests from other developers
Work in a collaborative, agile team environment
Help design solutions
Supervise more junior members of the teams
Requirements
Significant commercial experience with Ruby, working in a Ruby on rails environment
Deep understanding of object-orientated programming
Desire to work with Domain Driven Design
Love to work using TDD
Understanding of relational database (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Understanding of web design patterns
Previous experience working in a company scaling up is useful, but not essential
Most importantly, a desire to learn, grow, working with an amazing team and deliver software
