Overview:
A well-established coatings manufacturer in Modderfontein is looking for the services of a Colour QC Manager. QC to be applied to the production of industrial/solvent based and decorative/water based colour production. The company produces in excess of 20 000 colours. These colours are produced to customer order, by the tint bay. QC and management of all bespoke colours produced to order through the tint bay operation.
Minimum Requirements:
Matric essential.
Innovatint tinting system experience beneficial.
Tint bay machines: 1x decorative and 1x industrial tinting machines.
Spectrograph utilised for reading of colour.
Experience in spectrographic equipment operation essential.
Previous colour QC experience essential.
Previous tint machine operation essential.
Colour building and correction experience essential.
Understanding of colour production operations and control essential.
Colour database experience beneficial.
Experience in the passing of colourant and production bases beneficial.
Experience in staff management essential.
Demeanor suited to that of a department head (fair degree of gravitas)
Demonstrable ability to manage a team.
Excellent verbal and written skills essential.
High degree of attention to detail (documentation, labels etc),
Hard worker, not afraid to be hands on when required. Role be physical periodically.
Ability to work independently and as a team player. Ability to deal effectively with ALL staff.
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
High degree of professionalism and conduct at all times.
Ability to think and analyse possible route cause issues in order to propose corrective action.
Reside within immediate proximity (i.e. Kempton Park, Edenvale, Germiston)
Own reliable transport.

Duties and Responsibilities:
To ensure the best results, the Colour QC actively cooperates with colleagues and in a relevant, professional and appropriate manner to ensure effective execution of responsibilities.
Works directly with the Tint bay operator and Production QC. Interaction with order processor, store customers and sales team required from time to time.
Run and manage the tint bay (industrial and decorative colour production), ensuring 100% colour accuracy and repeatability.
Ensure that colour procedures are fully implemented and adhered to.
Approval of all produced colour to standards (visually and spectrographically). Passing, approving and correction of colours.
Building of new colours - as per sample.
Maintain and control all colour standards and fan-decks.
Assist with the roll out of base and colourant price increases, across all colour database users.
Ensure that all colour orders are produced in line with colour prioritisation protocols.
Manage the tint machine operator.
Tint machine calibration.
Tint bay house keeping.
Ensure that preventative maintenance operations on all tint machines are carried out daily.
Tint bay health and safety protocols adherence.
Ensure on time production of all colour and improve turnaround efficiencies.
Zero customer colour complaints / delayed colour delivery complaints.
Approval of all colourant and base batches.
Route cause investigation and corrective action to eliminate colour movement / colour corrections.
Control of colour standards, and colour samples.
Carry out colour training as required.
Ensure tint bay housekeeping and colour administration of high standards.
Improve decorative colour database.
Improve industrial colour database.
