Maintains systems and equipment by completing preventative maintenance schedules, restoring, repairing, rebuilding, and replacing inoperative components and parts.
Educational Requirements:
Relevant Degree
2-3 years Previous general maintenance experience in a Facilities or Accommodation setting essential.
Technical knowledge to recognize symptoms of disrepair and diagnose effective remedial works.
Legal knowledge of building contracts.
Excellent computer literacy is essential, especially in MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel.
Duties and responsibilities:
Supervision of maintenance staff
Look after branch security and cleanliness.
Oversee and maintain branch maintenance.
Ensure the upkeep of the campus grounds.
Ensure the upkeep of the campus buildings.
Ensure the upkeep of all equipment in the building, e.g., aircons, overhead projectors, lighting.
Supervise the maintenance, security, gardening and cleaning personnel/facilities.
Liaison with all contractors, including the canteen operator.
Maintenance of all office equipment
Maintenance of the telephone system
Maintenance of swimming pool and entertainment areas
Obtain quotes as required for Building, maintenance, etc.
Administration pertaining to the maintenance i.e. stock-taking, purchases, inventory control
Ordering of all stationery and consumables in the branch
Supervise branch stock levels (including academic stock)
Prepare creditor’s invoices for payment.
Liaise with Finance department in terms of creditors.
Arrange monthly stock takes and double-check they have been done correctly
Send all obsolete stock back to head office.
Drive to the finance department if necessary to collect and organize cheques and urgent adjustments.
Responsible for Petty Cash (including reconciliations and requesting cheque requisitions)
Manage the student fund account.
Follow up and rectify discrepancies in the income statement (in conjunction with Accounts)
Supervise the smooth running of the Print and Post and Resource Centre
Control issues of faculty equipment used by students off campus.
Sort out suppliers of various kit/royalty fees. Make sure that things are ordered timeously and oversee this.
Set annual budgets in conjunction with the principal.
Account for monthly expenses and recon back to budget.
Manage and control branch Health and Safety Program in conjunction with Makrosafe.
Obtain Quotes for Capex requests.
Get involved in all events from a financial point of view.
Manage operational relationships with contractors and stakeholders.
