We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team in Sandton, Johannesburg. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and contributing to the overall financial health of the company. The Assistant Bookkeeper will work closely with the financial team, utilizing their expertise in accounting, data entry, and Sage Accounting and Payroll systems.
Minimum Requirements:
A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
Minimum of 3 years as a Bookkeeper
Experience in Sage Accounting and Payroll systems is essential
Strong data entry skills and attention to detail
Proficient in developing and implementing financial standards
Ability to analyze complex financial information
Experience in dealing with legal compliance matters, particularly BCEA regulations
Demonstrated capability in reporting results effectively
Thorough understanding of accounting principles
Exceptional confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information
Ability to work with complexity and maintain thoroughness in tasks
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions
Ensure compliance with legal requirements
Develop and use a clear chart of accounts
Establish and follow effective bookkeeping policies
Implement systems for accurate financial tracking
Verify and post transactions to subsidiary accounts
Balance accounts by reconciling entries
Transfer account summaries to the general ledger
Prepare a trial balance for accuracy
Maintain precise historical and employee records
Collect, analyze, and summarize account information for reports
Generate comprehensive financial reports
Ensure compliance with BCEA legal requirements
Enforce adherence to legal obligations
Contribute to team efforts
Oversee employee contracts and assist with retention and hiring
Track work hours, sales, and payments
Record cash drawer entries
Check and report sales balances
Effectively use financial management software
Implement custom coding for record-keeping
Manage staff commission structure
Handle all payroll functions accurately
Calculate and process employee salaries
Maintain tax withholding records
Analyze reports
Set up and maintain retail and service targets
