We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support our laboratory team. The successful candidate will assist with preparing samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the lab operates smoothly and safely.Key Responsibilities:Prepare, label, and organize samples for testing.Assist in conducting routine lab tests and experiments under supervision.Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment and workspaces.Record data accurately and maintain detailed logs of experiments and results.Manage laboratory supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained.Follow health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.Support lab technicians and scientists with additional tasks as needed.Qualifications & Requirements (South Africa):Minimum: Matric/Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and Science (Physical or Life Sciences preferred).Preferred:Certificate or Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field (e.g., from institutions like False Bay College, Tshwane University of Technology, or Central University of Technology).National Certificate in Medical Laboratory Assistance (offered by Health and Welfare SETA or other accredited training providers).Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in a relevant field is an advantage for career growth.Certifications:Health and Safety Training Certification (e.g., First Aid Level 1, Hazardous Chemical Handling) highly beneficial.Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Certification advantageous.Skills & Competencies:Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.Good communication and teamwork skills.Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, regulated environment.Physical stamina to handle equipment and samples.This is a great opportunity for individuals passionate about science and laboratory work, looking to build a career in the field.
