Job Title: School Laboratory Assistant



Job Summary:

The School Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for assisting teachers and students in the school's science laboratory. They will ensure that all laboratory equipment and materials are properly maintained and organized, and assist with the setting up and clearing away of experiments and demonstrations. The Laboratory Assistant will also ensure that health and safety procedures are followed at all times.



Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist teachers and students in conducting experiments and demonstrations in the science laboratory Prepare laboratory equipment and materials for use in experiments Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and materials Ensure that all health and safety procedures are followed in the laboratory at all times Assist with the setting up and clearing away of experiments, demonstrations and exams Duties are to be carried out accurately and timeously, for Exams and Demonstrations to proceed on time. Help students with following experimental protocols and procedures Keep accurate records of laboratory activities and equipment usage Assist with maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and ordering replacements as needed Help with the disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with school policies and regulations


Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience working in a laboratory setting preferred Knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to follow instructions and work independently Good communication skills and ability to work well with teachers and students Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a laboratory setting


Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment and materials Ability to stand for extended periods of time Manual dexterity and ability to perform delicate tasks with precision
