  • Partnering with various business stakeholders and external service providers to establish and maintain a clear understanding of the technology (software, infrastructure & cloud) being consumed in the cloud and on-premise platforms as well as ownership and allocation of the various FinOps cost elements.
  • Collaborating with technology asset administration teams and advise on licensing agreements to ensure alignment to the organisation's technology strategy and budget.
  • Reviewing technical roadmaps, their forecasted cost implications and feasibility to inform business cases for financial approval.
  • Collaborating with group commercial teams to analyse the technology requirements for entering new markets to enable accurate costing and informed decision-making.
  • Identifying and presenting insights on mitigating risks and exploiting opportunities related to technology operations.
  • Ensuring accurate technology costing as input for proposals to external customers.
  • Collaborating with group procurement teams on driving cost optimisation opportunities with vendors.
Data, reporting and analytics
  • Driving a strategy to enable optimal data collection, extraction, transformation and loading into data analysis tools.
  • Designing and driving the development of FinOps reports and dashboards that enable visibility and analysis of FinOps data.
  • Presenting data driven insights and recommendations on technology cost and return on investment.
  • Ensuring that the information used for decision-making, analysis, and reporting purposes is consistent across operational and financial perspectives, reflecting key decision making data such as cost drivers and consumption data.
  • Working with business unit stakeholders to validate and maintain costing data to ensure confidence in FinOps reporting insights.
  • Identifying data quality risks and controls to prevent data quality issues that may compromise the accuracy of FinOps dashboards and reports.
Planning & Delivery
  • Development and execution of a tactical FinOps strategy that supports the business unit strategy and aligns with other portfolio strategies.
  • Driving the ongoing strategic engagement with executive and senior leadership stakeholders across the business in order to mature the cost models as well as identify and implement opportunities for increased cost efficiencies in support of business objectives.
Knowledge and Practices & Continuous Improvement
  • Development, implementation and improvement of the practices required for effective delivery of a FinOps services.
  • Sharing of the latest industry knowledge and relevant internal FinOps business practices across the organisation.
  • Driving companywide awareness of FinOps policies and requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Management of risks that could compromise the FinOps strategy and service delivery.
Stakeholder Management
  • Aligning with customers and internal stakeholders on their expectations and adjust practices accordingly.
  • Partnering with key stakeholders across the business is key to increasing the value delivered by the team.
  • Driving stakeholder adoption of any changes that may affect service/product delivery.
People
  • Planning, recruiting and managing team capacity to ensure the team is fully staffed and equipped with the resources and skillset required for team effectiveness.
