Job SummaryCORE PURPOSE OF JOBThe core purpose of this position is to be actively involved in learning and teaching activities to promote learning within the design studio and computer lab, conducting research, and actively engaging with the broader community. This includes facilitating the acquisition of knowledge and skills by individuals, enabling them to function effectively within the architecture profession and as productive members of broader society, particularly focusing on software proficiency. To participate in and contribute to research and innovation, postgraduate student supervision, contribute to community, discipline and professional engagement as well as being involved in the core functions of the University.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Facilitating active learning and teaching processes within the computer lab, promoting architectural software as a design tool and enhancing detail design (construction) abilities.
  • Integrating and implementing digital architecture into the design studio, fostering innovation and creativity in architectural design.
  • Participate in, conduct and publish research output.
  • Performing administrative tasks.
  • Participate in postgraduate student supervision.
  • Perform academic, community and discipline engagements.
  • Contribute to quality of the programmes, programme and accreditation reviews
CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Demonstrated expertise in architectural design, construction, services, and architectural software usage, with specialized skills in these areas.
  • Proficiency in design skills and extensive experience working in a design studio setting, particularly using architectural software, with a deep understanding of the design process and technical resolution.
  • Proven ability to facilitate learning in architecture at the undergraduate level.
  • Strong interest in conducting research to further professional development and education.
  • Potential to contribute to knowledge creation through publications and the development of new learning material.
REQUIREMENTSTo be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must have a M+5 Masters degree in Architecture or equivalent qualification,A minimum of two (2) years of experience.Appropriate registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).SCREENINGQUESTIONS
