In considering candidates for appointment into the advertised posts, preference will be accorded to persons from a designated group in accordance with the approved Nelson Mandela University Employment Equity PlanCORE PURPOSE OF JOBNelson Mandela University is expanding its Bachelor's degree programme in Emergency Medical Care (B.EMC) in the Eastern Cape and is seeking to fill an associate lecturer or lecturer position with a dynamic and forward-thinking Emergency Care Practitioner.The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the academic experience of students in the programme, engage in relevant healthcare research, and support the development of strong connections between academia, commerce, NGO's and government services.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Deliver lectures and facilitate learning for modules within the B.EMC programme.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the Emergency Medical Care sector.
  • Conduct, publish, and promote impactful research in the field of Emergency Medical Care.
  • Participate in and contribute to community health promotion and outreach initiatives.
  • Support the development and presentation of Short Learning Programmes and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.
  • Develop and assist with student assessments, examinations, and related academic activities as required by the Department.
  • Supervise and participate in clinical practice shifts to support student training.
CORE COMPETENCIESAssociate Lecturer * Possess knowledge of the theory and practice of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Proven expertise in the field of Emergency Medical Care.
  • Experience in facilitating learning at undergraduate level.
  • Excellent teaching and interpersonal skills.
  • Good management / administrative skills
  • Proven computer literacy in the MS Office Suite.
Lecturer * Experience in blended and online learning.
  • Experience in using learning management systems, such as Moodlexc2xae or Blackboardxc2xae
  • Experience in research in terms of academic supervision.
  • Proven practical expertise in the field of Emergency Medical Care
  • Expert knowledge of the theory and practice of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Experience in the Provincial Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will be an advantage.
