Present undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Agricultural Economics.
Contribute to research projects and initiatives focused on strengthening the grain and oilseed industry.
Represent the university in industry forums, conferences, and networking events, promoting partnerships and advocating for the importance of grain-focused education and research.
Synthesize knowledge through the publication of scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
Source funding for research from international national funding organizations.
Develop and implement initiatives to enhance the practical relevance of academic programs, integrating industry best practices and real-world experiences.
Provide assistance and mentorship to students, faculty, and staff engaged in agricultural programs and research related to grain and oilseed production.Inherent requirements:
Lecturer
A PhD in Agricultural Economics or related discipline on NQF Level 10 (for a permanent appointment)
or
Masters degree in Agricultural Economics or related discipline on NQF Level 9 (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD in Agricultural Economics or related discipline on NQF Level 10 MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position).
Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
A good academic record.Recommendations:
Minimum of 5 years professional experience in the agricultural sector, with a focus on the grain and oilseed industry.
Demonstrated track record of successful collaboration with stakeholders in the grain and oilseed industry, academia, and/or research institutions.
Comprehensive knowledge of trends, challenges, and opportunities within the grain and oilseed industry, including market dynamics etc.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with industry stakeholders, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Ability to translate industry insights and practical experience into academic programs and research projects, enriching the learning environment.
Proven record of published popular articles, radio/tv interviews, and/or presentations related to the grain and oilseed industry.Required competencies:
